I love every aspect of my 2020 M2C. Been through the entire BMW lineup (except the 7 series), and a 997, two 981. By far, the M2 comp brings me a new experience every time I drive it. I look forward to my daily commute more (at 5:30am on the 405 fwy, and the commute home on the 405). I will drive it every chance I get. Cheers!

I know your name from rennlist. Congrats on the M2C!

Coming from a 981 GT4 I was tempering my expectations. However, after having the M2C for almost a year, I am really enjoying it for different reasons than the GT4.

As an all-around DD and performance car, it has actually exceeded my expectations. Aesthetically, I think it is a great looking car. I used to feel the rear was the weak point, but now the rear has become my favorite. It is signature M2. The front and side profile scream BMW, but the rear is all junk-in-the-trunk M2.

Despite the occasional fits of my eternally not-quite-satisfied-with-anything personality (cough, cough, the DCT), I get in this car and I'm home. More than any BMW I've owned, this one feels like MY car, not just the car I have right now. 12,365 miles on the clock as of pulling into the garage after a supply run on this gorgeous Saturday. I couldn't have enjoyed the drive more.

I don't know that I'll buy another BMW. Someday, when I'm really done and ready for her not to be MY car, it'll probably be time to try something else. I found the right BMW (not bringing up the transmission again...nope...), and I will probably try to find the right something else in 4 or 7 years.

This is the first car i've ever purchased that didnt test drive first. The car this replaced was a 230i and i jumped into this with the assumption that it would satisfy what i was looking for in a daily driver.

Like many other people in this thread, i tend to get bored of cars pretty quickly. In the past 5 years i've been through 6 cars.In all of them there was always something missing, not enough power, handling was lackluster, driver connection was lacking, you name it. I'd usually buy a car, and then almost immediately within the next few months start looking for the next fix. I've owned this car for 3 months now, and i cant imagine myself owning anything else. At least not until i hit the next price threshold. Its super fun to drive, its incredibly comfortable when it needs to be, it handles very well, and has plenty of power. The only other car that i've ever owned which completely satisfies me is my Honda S2000. SO owning both cars is the best duo i could ask for currently. Maybe if i can swing it, i'll go for a Cayman and replace the S2k with it, but till that happens i'm incredibly content with my car collection.

This. Once I can comfortably get a 911 (without feeling like I'm paying more than "feels" right) I'll make the move.

Yeah those are nice, and drive great! But a bit too small for me and less ergonomic compared to the 911. I fit in the 991 and 992 like a glove though.

FWIW I much prefer the M2C to the 911. No contest for me.

If you enjoy it std then put on just a zorst and stage 1 and it's a different BEAST altogether

I've had lots of cars including top range porsches and this is best car of em all based on enjoyment and fun factor

My next step is bigger tyres to plant all that power down and it'll be MORE PERFECT then it is even now, I didn't realise one could improve on perfection... 🤣

I was seriously considering a 991.1 GTS before I got the M2C
I've had 2 cayman 981 S's previously

I test drove one, and the size of the 991 held me back, it feels like a big car, the m2c feels just right

but the porsche experience is definitely one worth having, they just do every aspect of a car so well, my first 6 months with my 981S was the most fun I've ever had driving...I just wish they kept the 911 sports car size.

I agree with the next price threshold sentiment. Ever since I saw Jeremy Clarksons OG M2 review on the first episode of The Grand Tour, I knew this was the car for me. I was younger and broker so I wasn't able to afford it, but 3 years later things lined up and I was able to pick up a Comp. I love my car and I'm happy with my decision. The next car that I'm truly interested in is a 911 Turbo, and that's a threshold quite a bit away for me, so I'll be enjoying this until then.

X2. I replace a C4S for my M2C. The balance and personality of the M2C is more involving and just engaging. I know many non P-car owners have built the brand up to some mythological level to aspire to. I get it if you are looking from the outside looking in at the Porsche brand. The P marketing is in overdrive and I recommend everyone at least trying a 911 once but not at a new overinflated price point. You would be much better off buying a clean 996 for $20k. (yes $20k is not a typo) and seeing what the 911 is all about. The 996 is a fantastic driving car and much more engaging and organic than the 991/992.

From my 30 year ownership of the 911 cars:
With each generation of 911, it moves away from what I liked in them. My resale value in my last 3 gen of water cooled 911’s went from bad to horrific so going from $128k to now $150k for the same car but in the next generation is almost a stupidity test. I felt I way overpaid with 2 pages of mandatory options I had to have on my last $128k C4S. This is because a base no-option 911 is a turd with VW Jetta like equipment so forget the entry level msrp 911 prices they advertise.
Get the $20k used 996 from a PCA member. The Porsche resale argument days are long gone.

Hearing all you guys with P car experience praise the M2 is huge. I was thinking about one, but like I said in another thread, I really didn't get serious about it because I wanted an M car first. Looks like I made a great choice. But i'm sure the P car experience is unique, and to be had some day

I love this car. I paid off my business in the fall of 2018, and decided to splurge on a "sports car" for myself. I think it was between an M4 and a Shelby GT350 at that time. I was google searching M4 stuff, and came across a review of the M2C that said "like the M4, but don't need the extra room"? Well, yes I do! Then I watched every youtube review of the M2C for the entire winter of '18/19. I finally decided to pull the trigger, but there were none to be had in the PNW. Like many of you, I never even test drove it. I found one in Long Beach online and bought it site unseen. I've always driven cars hard, but never owned a car nearly this capable. I had fallen in love with BMW drivability with an i3 and the wife's X3, so I figured I would not be disappointed. I try not to drive it on rainy days. For one to keep it a little special, and also to keep some of the miles off of it, but I really want to drive this car every day! I drive this car just to drive it, and it does put a smile on my face. I stare at too, and admire it! I feel like a dork! I bought quickjacks and work on it, and think about and search mods all day long for it. It has become quite the obsession. It does feel like a much nicer exotic to me since it is my first foray into this type of car. And I have only seen one other in the wild where I live! Sorry for the rambling long post. My coworkers and family don't understand, but so many of you wrote things that I feel about this car that I had to chime in. I lurk here quite a bit, and I feel like I know some of you well from your posts. Thanks!

Porsche are great, but in the main overrated except for older carerra Gts, and the Gt3 and RS

I would never buy the turbo S , way overpriced for what it is but the Taycan and GT4 look interesting and I'd like to try them out

In the end I'm v happy with M2C, will be keeping it a long time

Yeah, and I feel the opposite. But, you know, opinions are subjective so.....

Makes sense. For me the 911 (991 and 992) feels like the perfect size (I am a bit too big for the M2C) and with rear axle turning system, the 911 feels tiny when driving. Not to mention that it's SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than the M2C and you can feel it while driving.

I love my M2C more than any other car I have had. But for me the 911 would hit the spot. But don't feel like spending that kind of money at the moment, and the M2C keeps me more than content enough. Not sure if would want to replace it with a 911 instead of just adding a 911 to the garage as well.

Lol. I totally understand you especially coming from PNW. I'm getting the car tonight and can't wait. Let's get all the PNW M2 together to celebrate once we are able to get back to normalcy

I have the same reasoning, not sure I'd want to replace the M2 with a 911.

I love using the M2 as a weekend track car, comsumables and upgrades are reasonable.

I think I would love to have a convertible AWD 911 as an occasion car all year round.

Lots of people think that the seats only move up / down / forward / backward. But the seat controller also allows you to 'tilt' the seat backwards or forward.

Suggestion: 'tilt' the seat to maximum position backwards (pull the button to get your knees in the highest lifted position & butt in the lowest position). Adjust the backrest + steering wheel position to compensate.

My seat is always at maximum backwards tilt + lowest height (I'm 1m80 / 5.9ft). Maybe there's some placebo effect at play too, but with max backwards tilt + lowest height, I have the impression that this is the lowest possible seat position. You also gain a bit of head room (my M2C has the glass sliding roof). Inflate the side bolsters to your convenience (mine are max inflated). A proper way to feel more 'one' with the machine.

A lot of people are talking about the 911 as too big and they wouldnt replace the M2 with it. And honestly i probably wouldnt either. For me the car a Porsce would replace would be my S2k. ANd if i were to get a porsche it would be a Cayman. Largley due to the fact that the Cayman is the smaller of the two but its big enough for someone like me to drive comfortably. I'm 6'3" and unfortunetly if i dont sit just right my knees hit the steering wheel of the S2000. I love that car, but its a very cramped car and not very comfortable on longer drives. The Cayman would be a perfect answer to that as a replacement.
