Ok for 285/30/18 in the rear ?

Just wondering if I can use 285/30/18 in the rear. I run with dsc off but I'm not sure if this will affect other electronics like ABS.

I'm using 265/35/18 in the front.

I use 285/30/18 in the rear for my Track Days with 255/35/18 up front. Works well for me. Will be going 265 up front next tire replacement. Works well for me.

Similar question. What's the disadvantage of running different sidewall profile on front and rear? There gotta be some drawbacks.

Thank you, glad to hear you have no issue with 285/30 in the rear which means more tire options

There is no disadvantage to running a different sidewall profile. The aim is to maintain same diameter as original tire. Running a wider tire in the rear requires a shorter sidewall to maintain as close to possible a diameter as the original tire. So a 285/30 is 30% in sidewall height (30% of 285) vs 285/35 (35% of 285). Maintaining as close to tire diameter as OE is the goal. There are several threads that go into depth of this, and there is very good information on this site about tires.

What tire brand do you use? I was looking to replace my Dunlops with Nittos but they don't have those sizes. Was looking for 100-200 treadwear.

Currently Michelin Cup2 Connect 240. I'll be trying Yokohama A052 next year.

Wouldn't a 295/35/18 be closer to OEM diameter?

I said most common combination, not closest to OEM. 265/35 and 295/30 is a common combination that is very close in diameter front/rear.

Understood. With those tire sizes I'm assuming a 9.5 front and 10.5 rear wheel would be used.

Like the Staggered set-up very much. Don't care for Square set-up. Run Staggered on Track, and switch to Staggered Street on way home from Track. I DD my M2, but don't commute to work with it. (Retired)

Thanks for the input! I'm trying to figure out what I want to do handling wise when the factory tires are worn out. Can you expand on your experience with a square set up? what made you not like it, specifically the handling at the track.

You are limited to how wide you can go in rear. I'm running 285/30/18 now and coming out of turns tires are spinning, especially on an uphill grade. Again, I run stock suspension, so 265/18 front and rear doesn't work for me. There are videos of people who say wider tires don't give you more tread contact, I don't buy it.

What wheel offsets you running on these?

Am considering this setup. Starting from scratch so curious what coilovers are you using? Do you know of any any known issues with clearance on certain coilovers for this staggered setup??

Currently running Stock Suspension with no issues. Will be installing Ohlins Coil Overs in a week or two. I will update after install, but I do not foresee any problems.
