Just ordered from Extreme. Small world too since that happened to also be where I ordered by CF M3 hood for my E46 last year. Speak with Gino, he's a really good guy. Also for painting it and/or fitment, just deal directly with Rich at Luxury Autobody in Etobicoke. You can mention that Christian sent you and he will do this very reasonably for you.
Rich can also pick it up from Extreme as they interact regularly so you won't have to deal with shipping it to the body shop or anything like that yourself. Sorry to have hijacked anything, but us Canadian peeps need hookups! Last edited by tutankhamon; 05-08-2020 at 01:42 PM.. |

My 2 cents.
I am a collision repair technician. We use 75% after market parts which come probably from the same people that create these hoods. The rule is this. The aftermarket needs to be 33% or bigger different than the oem to not get "busted" so that means whether it's the width, length, thickness of metal. Yes. For aftermarket you have to adjust things. Such as fenders, headlights, bumpers, etc... but the oem gives you enough clearance In their factory stamps to adjust for these things. Moving fenders is something I do everyday to make the hoods fit, Or headlights fit. All I'm saying is if you crashed the car and got an aftermarket hood put on from the body shop. This is all the stuff they would do to make it fit, because the insurance will prefer the aftermarket parts because of cost. Now having someone hit my m2, I know that the aftermarket parts are limited. All in all, What I'm trying to say is this. Any car that gets wrecked and gets after market parts, things get moved around to make it fit. *Disclaimer* where I work we DO NOT use shims. Or make holes bigger. If the figment is not acceptable in the pre drilled holes.. we order a second aftermarket. If same thing. That we go oem. And show proof to the insurance that the figment was not proper. Hope this helps some of you guys out. |

Nope. But it's not like they can afford to be too greedy. A CF version of this hood can be purchased from RW Carbon for 2.4$K USD, and they ship up north.
I would expect this reseller to be in the 1.2$K CDN range, before shipping. |

Compared to expensive products, the quality is not good. It has the quality of the price. Decide on budget. It's your choice. |

Karmic Man, yeah I'm aware of that thread, which has me hesitant on Alpha-N/Edison Composites, especially for the price (I think its like $5k after paint).
Love the design, but I'm anal, and this, https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=16, makes me question hood fitment. I wish BMW had just went with the exact same design for the CS instead of making it more "extreme" |

We placed our order to Suvneer on Thursday and shipment is on it's way. Will take lots of photos fitted before it's off to paint, well - assuming it's in acceptable condition.

Absolutely. The plan is to first take a baseline measurement of the stock body panel gaps then fit the new hood and see if we can adjust it to those values. If all is well then we'll remove it and take it to a body shop.
Will update this thread once it arrives (shipped via R+L Carriers out of Pomona CA). |
