When did BMW switch to open haulers?
I thought I always used to see enclosed soft side haulers at the BMW dealership unloading new cars. I went to pick up the new M2 this past week to find it had been transferred on an open hauler from port to WI. Needless to say it was covered in grime and salt spray from the trip. Am I just too picky??

Transport from VPC to the local dealership is done through the dealership and usually contracted to be done as cheaply as possible.

My dealer for instance will only get a car or three off a truck. It then moves on to other dealers in the area. Plus it is BMW's responsibility to deliver the car to the dealer, not the dealer's.

I just got a car brought in from out of state (off another lot, not new from port) and was told it was enclosed transport. Wasn't there to see it unloaded, but nothing to prove that a lie. It made the trip so fast that I think it was either added to a cross country load or done via a special run, could not have sat around anyplace.
