$60k Conundrum, without too much of a bias, GT350 or M2 Comp?

I have driven my buddy's GT350 and it was impress on the open road boat around down. He eventually traded for the GT500 but missed the manual when he drove my M2C. The next week he traded it for a Mach1 which had much better use be low-end torque and a mix of the best of the GT350 and GT500. I would consider that and add it to your short list.

I have a M2C 6spd and it's the best well rounded car I have driven. If it were me I would lean towards the M2C, if price is not an option. For a second choice I would lean towards the Mach1 6spd, for a DD, IMO

M2C DCT with no bias. A friend with a GT350 is missing many track days because his car keeps having transmission problems. I like the visceral and responsive Shelby NA V8 more than the M2C's S55, but I don't like it enough to compromise on reliability.

This matches my neighbor's sentiment. He had a GT350R that he loved to track. But it got to the point where he was consistently missing track days, due to the 350 being stuck at the dealer for excessive periods with continued issues. He finally had enough, sold it and bought a 991.2 Carrera T. He's never looked back.

That said, if you're not tracking it, I doubt you'll run into the same reliability issues. When I was car shopping, the GT350 was near the top of my list. But I just couldn't get over the rattle-filled cheap feeling interior of the two I test drove (both with sub-6k miles). It's such a shame because the road presence, power delivery, exhaust note and tremec 6-speed are all fantastic.

Two close friends of mine had gt350s but both of them had non stop ignition coil problems where they would fail regularly. They're amazing cars, the look good, sound good and perform good. The amount of front tire you can squeeze in them is insane BUT personally all mustangs, Camaros and challengers have this "sitting in a bunker" feeling where visibility is horrendous to the point that it hinders confidence when pushing the car. I'm sure a gt350 is faster than an m2c on track but the visibility alone makes me more confident in my f87.

When I was shopping, I also test drove a ZL1. That car had a serious "sitting in a bunker" experience to it. Like you're a little kid trying to peak up over a counter ledge. Weird thing to explain but you get it. However, the interior felt great and my God, the power...

Truthfully, the insane amount of power is ultimately what scared me back toward the M2C. I've managed to go 12 years without a speeding ticket or any serious 'puckered butt' experiences. That car would have been my downfall. Whenever I see someone driving a ZL1 or GT500 around town, I have to give respect for what must be some considerable self control.

What suspension to you go with to lower the car? I want to lower the car but keep the ride close to stock as possible. I've been reading about the Ohlins being better than stock, not sure how true it is.

I went with ohlins. It's good on the road but at track it's kinda meh. If you go to track often, go with MCS

I haven’t had any reliability issues with my 2019 GT350. Even if I did, I was able to buy an 8 year extended warranty from Ford for $2400 so I’m not really worried about it.

Also, while the M2C and GT350/R are both great cars, the GT350/R is the faster car. In Car & Driver's Lightning Lap series, the GT350R laps VIR in 2:51.8 and the M2C does it in 2:59.7. On LapMeta, the fastest recorded time around Sonoma Raceway in a GT350 is 1:48.4; the fastest recorded time in a M2C is 1:54.8.

Agree that MCS 1WNR is superior to Ohlins DFV at the track. I have these MCS non-remote dampers on my E36. The MCS remotes perform even better.

However, Ohlins TTX is comparable to MCS on track and superior on the road without the complexity of remote reservoirs. I upgraded from DFV to TTX on my S2000 and the results are a sublime ride on the road and great composure on track.

A friend with an F87 M2C likes his MCS 1WNR but complains about a bad ride on the road. I'd go with the TTX on the M2C if I wanted great track performance without compromising ride quality.
