I've only run the SCCA event, and I loved it, but I won't be making the this tracknight event. I've only heard good things about NASA, I may give it a shot sometime soon.

last week i ordered a ftp chargepipe and CSF intercooler for my OG M2.
At the moment i'm running BM3 stage 2 with a catless downpipe so i wonder what to expect from powergain from the intercooler.

If you’re on stock chargepipe, I would strongly recommend you don’t run BM3 until the ftp is installed.
I was just on stage 1 93 oct for a day or two and it blew in 2 locations. I’m assuming stage 2 runs even higher boost. So anyone who knows for sure can correct this. Save yourself any possible damage and headache and hold off on the BM3. My car has very low mileage FYI. I have read about this blowing chargepipe a million times and ignored it. I should have expected it when it happened. Lesson learned. Mine happened just 500m away from my house so i immediately took it back to the garage. If it had happened 2 hrs away, would have been a headache. I hope it doesn’t happen to you. I also got the CSF and a downpipe. still waiting for it. Tnx for your tip, but i really can say that i don't push my car until the parts are not installed.
I don't register for car events or driftday until my parts arrive

Stock tune on 93 pump gas with new MAD 5” intercooler. Single gear pull in 3rd gear as I don’t have many places locally to run past 90mph. 75F ambient. IAT climbs from 90F to 103F from ~3k to ~6500k RPM. Maxes out at 106F a couple seconds after getting off throttle. Off the gas for a several seconds, IAT drops back to 96F.
https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=60b6...90c60fd5b8e0f0 Just flashed to bootmod3 Stage 1 93 this afternoon so will try to get a log of that sometime as well. Last edited by Dasnub; 06-01-2021 at 04:21 PM.. |

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by stage 1... just monstrous torque. Just spent about a half hour blasting around town in second gear, full throttle pulls to 60 or so probably a dozen times, and came home with the same IAT I left with. Once I get a chance to get to an on-ramp I’ll share more. So far so good.

Reserving judgment until I can run a few more logs, but as of now, not crazy impressive. I didn’t get a chance to log the stock intercooler but it would seem it rises 32 degrees on just a third gear pull per the below. Not sure what others have seen in that regard. If true, it’s still a significant improvement over stock and for my spirited driving only/trackless purposes may be sufficient. The most difficult thing to tell is how much less (or more) it heatsoaks at idle compared to its competitors. That is as much of a factor for me as the IAT delta at WOT, since it’s my daily driver.

Let's see a log on map 1, if it stays within that range you're good for a daily driver. In order to compare it to other intercoolers, you need to also compare weight, pressure airdrop, and recovery. As the higher the fin density the better the cooling (the only thing you are measuring) but the worse the other factors (which you are not measuring). As mentioned above, these are all assumptions without a datalog. Post one with map 1 , measure the rise on WOT and we will know how it performs for a daily driver

Not saying one is better than the other, but for a daily driver, a 14-degree increase is decent and won't make any difference. Still a big improvement over stock

MAD 5” intercooler and chargepipe, Stage 1 93 Bootmod3 logs in Sport+. 69F ambient. IATs still rise similarly to stock tune logs I posted but recovery time is excellent. I ran the logs a bit longer so people can see the return back to starting IAT. Generally temps were back down to original IATs within a minute or so on the freeway and about 10 degrees over ambient.
Overall I think it’s a solid choice for a stage 1 DD in a cool to moderate climate. I am satisfied with the results given my driving style and climate. The 20ish degree rise in IATs during the pull is probably not what you want if it’s consistently 90+ degrees outside. Same thing if you’re running on track- the increasing temps on throttle are probably more than you’d want. However, If you’re juicing it every couple minutes through a gear or two, it brings you back to an almost even starting point after a short period. I’m not sure what the recovery looks like on larger ICs or those with higher fin density, but my guess based on sheer physics is that the MAD unit is probably recovering more quickly than them, making it a better DD option. Additional lag over the stock IC is not noticeable. Run 1 https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=60b7...729b0c51245fef IAT rises from 72 to 98. Recovers to 81 within seconds off throttle. Recovers to 75 within a minute. Run 2 https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=60b7...90c6105d476a45 IAT rises from 80 to 100. Recovers within seconds to 90. Back to 80 within a minute. Run 3 https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=60b7...90c6105d476a49 IAT rises from 80 to 102. Recovers within seconds to 91. Recovers to 80 within a minute. Run 4 https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=60b7...90c60fd5b8e4cd IAT rises from 80 to 103. Recovers to 91 within seconds. Recovers to 80 within a minute. Last edited by Dasnub; 06-02-2021 at 11:40 AM.. |

Thank you for taking the time to post your logs, it looks like a 50-60% improvement over stock without turbo lag
In my opinion, it's a good choice for stage 1 drivers. More advanced applications will need a larger intercooler

If anyone is willing to take a look at how the car is performing overall on the stage 1 tune, it would be much appreciated. I believe the only run with DSC OFF was the 4th one.
