Dedicated Aftermarket Suspension Thread

Did a search and didn't see a comprehensive thread to discuss all things suspension. Lets consolidate here and talk options, plans, experiences and reviews.

If you decided to mod what did you do? Any issues? Would go a different route? Haven't pulled the trigger but have a plan? Share it here.

Have links to other threads you think are helpful? Post it here and I'll update this list.

Helpful links I've found.

Really struggling with no modding the suspension here. I know BMW spent a time making the car right, but the wheel gap is just so much. Just looking for a modest 10-15mm drop or so. Any options that keeps the stock ride feel or am I out of luck?

The first mod to consider is ride height adjustment for the current adaptive coil-overs...

BMW adjustable bits:

KW adjustable bits (from my BMW mechanic - both should fit)

I wonder if the springs rates here need to be M2 specifics to retain that stock feel? Has anyone tried these?

There is info about the MP HAS vs KW HAS on the f80/f82 forums. The have different spring rates with the KW being stiffer. I run MP HAS on my M2CS and find them a little firmer than stock but totally fine for daily driving.

Thanks Wah! Can you share the details on the spring rates for both?

Nice! Have you driven / owned a C? Not that stiff right? Would you say Comfort is now similar to sport with the HAS or somewhere between those 2 stock?

Its really hard to say exactly what it compares to. I can't feel a huge difference between comfort and sport anyway. I can just say it feels a tad firmer since installing the mp has.

Got a quick reply from KW on the HAS system. The rates are, I'm assuming, an average given that they are progressive.

I'm more than happy with simple H&R sport springs FWIW. A touch firmer than stock, but still drives great and sits really nice. After about a month it just feels normal to me.

It's not a significant price savings as the install cost much more than the springs themselves. I definitely recommend them, but I'm not against any of the other options. I just wanted a plug and play with no adjustment.

It's the first time I've done just springs (not coilovers) since my first BMW, 2002 330i.

Thanks for chiming in. The springs are the same springs for the M3/M4 right? Part number wise?

Can you share a side photo of the drop for us to reference?

Yes, same part number as the M3/4 #28802-5.

Here's a couple pics, the side pic is not the best lighting, but hopefully gives you an idea.

Also running Turner 5MM spacers.

Weird how my stock Aus spec edition looks lower than the lowered car. Especially at the front?

It's definitely lower than stock, but it's a subtle drop. Here's a before and after, slightly different angles.

I think the black plastic pieces on the wheel wells of the non-US version reduce the visibility of the wheel gap.

Yours looks great stock.

Here is KW HAS with tint at 70 windshield and 50 on the rest.

I put them on with about 40 miles on the car and it's currently at 140 (got the car in December).

One day I will drive the thing.

This stance looks spot on! What was your settings front and rear?

Has anyone installed a Coil Over kit on the M2CS. I will be using my car mostly for track use and I am considering a set of Nitron R3 or MCS 3 Way. I just order the Small Kinematic Kit from Team Schirmer and likely will be ordering the diff kit as well if I go the coil over route.

Hoping to see if anyone has feedback before a pull the trigger.

Trying to get the the actual post...can only see the images. Looking more for feedback on the performance and difference than looks. Just hoping to optimize what is already good/great.

Can someone confirm that this exact sku fits the m2cs and doesn't violate warranty?
