Does your car have a smell?

Weird question I know...but specifically the Dakota leather, does it give off a leather smell in your car? The reason I am asking - my car has a smell inside that I can't decide if it's the leather or some sort of scent from the previous owner. It's a sweetish smell and isn't unpleasant, but if it's not natural I'd prefer to zap it with my ozone generator

I don't have access to another M2 to compare either

Mine still smells like a fairly typical new car smell. I wouldn't describe it as sweet or anything like that.

Fire up the ozone generator and set it to kill.

Visit your dealer and smell their cars. Mine still has some 'new car' after 3 yrs. Ozone is hard on some materials, so I'd avoid it unless the smell is unpleasant.

Yeah, it's a weird smell if you're coming from JDM cars like myself, and not great TBH. I've learned to live with it, and even like it a little, but it's trash compared to my old Lexus. I wouldn't characterize the BMW smell as sweet at all, maybe a bit musky. As mentioned above, visit your local BMW dealer to see what the car should smell like.

I had similar thoughts when I bought mine. It smelled like a new car and new leather, but it was a little different. Then I happened to be at BMW and sat inside a couple brand new M8's.. not to check the smell, but just to check out the vehicle. Thats when it hit me that this is how new BMWs smell. I don't remember my e92 M3 smelling like this though.

Stop by a BMW to do some smell testing

Huh, mine smells like low tide. But I’m receptive to the attention from lower morals types.
