US customers should count themselves lucky. I just found out the M performance parts that the US gets port installed are all ordered in to the dealership in Canada and then they charge you labour to install them. 1hr at $164 for a tech to install the $195 pedal set. Stupid...

That is insane, I've done the pedals twice now on my own and its at most a 20-30 minute job if you have any modicum of mechanical know how and a drill with the right bit to be able to drill through the brake pedal. And both my cars I did it on were manuals so that is even more work than if you have the DCT (not sure if you do or not)

I ordered a manual. I am going to install them myself. All you need is a drill?

A drill and I forget what size socket and torx bit to tighten down the bolts. Also having a pair of forceps is really helpful to be able to hold the nylock nuts on the back of the brake pedal especially since there is one bolt that its very hard to get it in place to get the threads to catch so you can finish it off. Its a really really easy job.

Yes, make sure you use the right size bit though. For the brakes I used a 5/32 bit and for the throttle I used a 3/32 bit.

Also, for the brakes, since you're drilling through a steel pedal, it helps to have an nice titanium drill bit

Yep, I brought the nuts and screws with me to a Lowes and just looked at them and bought 3 different of the titanium bits just to make sure I'd have the right one when it came time to do the drilling.

Also if you still have the big plastic floor mat thing that they ship the cars with, put that down under where you are drilling so all the metal and plastic shavings end up in there and you don't have to go vacuuming them out.

Good reason to do the break-in mileage sideways, I guess.

Also, I found it a very good idea to use a center punch prior to drilling - otherwise the drill bit can wander away from the marked position, especially since the brake and clutch pedals are made of very hard, curved steel, and you're drilling them from a very uncomfortable, awkward angle.

It took me a good hour to install a pedal set the first time. About 30 minutes the second time around (on a different vehicle). -scr

I just put the rubber pedal covers on the pedals first and used them as a guide to drill the holes in the clutch and throttle pedal as those are soft plastic. I did use a little center punch to get the brake pedal done properly as that is some seriously tough steel they used which is quite a good thing in my opinion.

Are you sure your clutch pedal was metal? It wasn't in either my 2014 M235i or my 2017 M2. The only medal pedal is the brake one.

Wow, that's great! I had that in my old IS300 and found it very handy when I was in unfamiliar territory (pre-GPS days). To be honest my question was a complete shot in the dark, but I'm glad I asked... LOL.

waiting to hear back, because this is a little over my head. I can do basic coding, but I keep hearing our cars have the right hardware and should support it. I am trying to find out the details of exactly what needs to be done. I am hoping this is some sort of software upgrade/coding to enable this. We shall see.
