Wider tires for 437m
I’ve read too many threads on going wider with stock wheels on stock suspension for OG M2.
A lot of people were running summer tires. I myself will be running all seasons. My car is a daily in the northeast with no track days. With all seasons would I be better opt to go rear 275/35- front 255/35 or could I fit rear 285/35- front 265/35 Any examples or previous experience will help. Thanks in advanced. |

I am running 275/35s on the rear both for summer and winter, so not a direct comparison to all-seasons, but I would assume if winters fit in that size, all-seasons should have no trouble. Can't speak for the fronts though since I am still running stock size

Thanks! I ended up going 275 35 and 255 35. I think it will be nicer than the stock 265 245. It was actually $200 cheaper than stock specs too (maybe a more popular size?) weird. Anyway. Getting mounted tomorrow. Will update then.

That is the size I am running. It is a more popular size because it is the stock size on the F series M3/4.

2. A wider tire will not work as well in the rain. 3. A wider tire will be taller at the same aspect ratio, and therefore more comfortable, but have worse response. 4. A/S tires have no business on an M-Car except in pre-winter conditions. What sir have you done this for?? |

I enjoyed every moment of my car for the last 2.5 years on the conti dws A/S. I don’t track. I have no real area to have a spirited drive. I don’t auto cross. It’s a dialy. And for my daily purposes the a/s meet all of my needs and I still enjoy my car every single day that I’m behind the wheel. I have a pickup for the snow. Currently I have multiple nail punctures therefore am exploring a wider size option. The stock size seems a bit stretched in appearance so I don’t like the asthetics. I saw for the most part that 275 255 was a popular fit with no rubbing. 🤷‍♂️ |

Mounted this morning. Very happy with the look of the thicker tire. Much more flush with the wheel itself. The handing seems about the same. Traction the same. The biggest and best difference is ride comfort. And for a daily it’s a huge bonus. Added bonus is the speedometer is more accurate to gps speed. Almost perfect

Every performance car I’ve had in the last 20yrs has had winter (all seasons, except full winters when I lived in CO), summer, and track tires. Summer tires are complete shit under 45F. Slap on some good all seasons and enjoy more grip and have a blast when temps get colder. Sounds better than parking cars and harassing folks about only running summers on M cars. Hey look M cars in the winter: https://www.bmw-m.com/en/fastlane/dr...xperience.html PS. I know he said AS are his only set, just having some fun. |

I run AS tires from Nov-March when average temps are below 50F and get much better grip from them on the street than my summers. They’re also better than snow tires bc they’re less squishy and last longer. If we more than a couple inches of snow, I hop in our SUV that I put CrossClimate2’s on. Running Conti DWS06+ as my AS tire and it’s great. When April hits, the summers go on. Last edited by ZM2; 03-12-2024 at 02:04 PM.. |

I enjoy performance cars in our Winters as much as at any other time (let`s not get into a debate on tyre selection - technology & science)
Granted, not in snow and ice but in the cold, damp and wet my previous Caymans and the M2 are superb ... their inherent feel - communication is even more valuable and rewarding

FWIW, I've found MPS4's handle the cold much better than MPSS's. The MPSS's I've had get squirrelly under 60 F. My MP4S's have been fine below freezing. Now I'm talking peppy, but daily driving, not backroad carving.

And they should because the PS4S is really a hybrid tire.
On the surface it appears that the PS4S and PSS are nearly identical, but in fact they are vastly different tires. Both are "listed" as 300 tw, but the PSS is a much more aggressive tire and responds like a 240-260 tw tire (which is probably what it really is). Unfortunately, the PSS is a terrible tire with regards to rain, cold, noise, and longevity, which is what the PS4S was created to fix. They fixed it alright, but it's more like a 340 tw Summer/A-S mix tire now. |

Yeah, the wait is painful. But since some cars are being fitted from the factory it shouldn't be too long to be able to get those sizes. They were supposed to be released to the public (in sizes for those cars alone) on March 1 of this year and it didn't happen. Most of them are 20 & 21" Just 1 of 27 sizes is a 19, and it's too small for the M2.
