Eagles Canyon Raceway 2:11.71

10/21 | ambient temp ~85-90°F
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar3 275/35-18 square (day 3 on them)

This was my first time at ECR and I really enjoyed it. The track is fun and quick with a good amount of blind exits due to elevation changes. I found it a challenging track to pick up speed on due to a visibility limitation (sitting too low) and perhaps not having enough roll control on the car—I was fighting some terrible fender rubbing because I'd set the car too low. Looking forward to going back and cutting some time off.

Circuit of the Americas 2:32.69

12/21 | ambient temp ~50ºF
Falken Azenis RT660 275/35-18 (full tread)

Back at COTA and after an extremely wet day, was able to find some grip and time in the sun. I really enjoyed the RT660s and believe they are faster than the SC3 (only other tire I've ever tracked on), but looking at data, they don't seem to be pulling any more lateral Gs. This is probably due to me learning the tire and not maximizing them. I've got a slightly faster rolling time of 2:32.24 and a theoretical of 2:31.7 using 4 splits.

Definitely know I can pick up time braking into T11 and 12 as well as exits of T18 and 19 so maybe there's a low 2:31/high 2:30 in me and the car as it sits now. I'm about to change to DS1.11 pads—hopefully not a downgrade in braking performance for the tire I'm running.

Thank you so much for that, very kind words! But I hope it's not a glitch!! I run Apex Pro, Racelogic VBOX and even TrackAddict Pro on my phone, to make sure what I'm seeing is accurate. Remember, that 2:08 was set with traffic too!

I agree, a low 2:07 or even a high 2:06 is definitely doable under ideal conditions. It really depends on where you draw the line at "stock" ya know? On 300tw tires, and some camber plates-- yeah I'd call that stock. But now, if I throw on some super sticky johnnies and perhaps a sway bar and some links/bushings, but still keep OEM springs and shocks, is it still "stock" or "stock-ish"? hahaha

I think I could even come close to HIGH 2:05s with the right tire, a sway bar and some less weight. I don't plan on doing much more to the car this year other than trying some stickier tires. Throughout all my years doing HPDEs, I've only used basic street tires (300tw and above, run flats, whatever's on sale on tirerack, etc). I've never felt the need to drive anything more, because I, myself was still learning. However, I really feel like I've gotten a hang of things behind the wheel and worked with many instructors, coaches and pro drivers over the last few years. Hopefully I'll report back with a lot faster times in a few months!

All very good points! I certainly feel you will improve.

I had a few laps that would have been in the 2:08s (maybe better) although was held up by traffic. Conditions are certainly very important as well, you almost have just one shot (ie lap) if they are not.

Learning car control is the name of the game. Street tires allow you to do that, slicks really do not. I have yet to run slicks myself, will probably happen this year.

The second time at Sebring with the M2C was able to Squeeze out a 2:28.5

Mods are Millway Camber Plates, Falken RT660 tires in stock sizes, and Carbotech XP10 Front and Rear

I was fighting the inconsistent pedal feel because of the ABS system. I was able to drive around it by double-tapping the brakes right before the heavy braking zone.

Last minute track day happened at the Ridge Motorsports Park on Saturday, Jan 29th. It was a very cool day (32°F at the start of the first session, but the sun came out and we ended the day at around 49°F), so the turbo was happy and felt like the car was noticeably pulling harder all day. Set a new PB of 1:53.35 per Track Addict and an external 10Hz GPS unit. Here are 4 laps recorded using a GoPro Hero5 Black with data overlay using Race Technology for GoPro software. It's a tenth off because my start/finish is likely not identical to TA's.

Tires: Good Year Eagle Supercar3. The rears (275/40-18) were on day 7 and the fronts (255/40-18) were on day 2.
Other Mods: KW CS w/-2.8° front camber, Akra 300 cell dp and catback, ER FMIC, little weight reduction to 3360lbs with a full tank of gas and no driver.

Finally got the M2 CS to VIR this past weekend!

Forgot my gopro helmet adapter for video (sorry), borrowed another instructor's Aim Solo and clocked a 2:07.4 yesterday before it started raining/snowing.

I was on old 265/30/19 PS4S in the front and almost corded 265/35/19 Cup connect 2's in the rear (not ideal, but I'm trying to use up some tires I have sitting around in the garage).

Car is stock other than GC Camber plates and H&R springs (but I think the stock springs/spring rate actually felt better). I also removed the front splitter because I didn't want to damage the CF splitter if someone broke or dropped something on track.

Still dealing with inconsistent brake pedal feel which really comes into play when pushing the car. That was probably the limiting factor in trusting the car in pushing the pace any further - though the car is still capable of a quicker qualifying lap pace for sure.

Last Sat was another last minute track day at The Ridge Motorsports Park. Ambient temps were in the 39°F-62°F range, the sun was out and there was no breeze. In other words, a great day to be out and a great day to be on a race track. It was busier in my group with a lot of fast traffic and some slower than me. Passing anywhere with a Point By did make things efficient, but did cost precious time when that happened. Here is my second session of the day where I ran a PB (1:53.04 on Track Addict with an external GPS, 1:53.17 in the video with GoPro telemetry and me manually setting start finish on Race Technology).

I started this session with a virtual best (VB) of 1:53.0x and ended up getting a couple of laps to match. Interestingly, my VB dropped to 1:52.2x at the end of this session, and to 1:52.0x by the end of the day. Now I need to find almost a whole second and put it all together in a single lap.

I don't track my OG M2 anymore, but here are some PBs back when I did. There is definitely more time on the table, but I think these laps both show how capable the OG is, with minimal mods. No power adders and no coilovers.

Just a reminder to add your times to the google spreadsheet if you want them noted there. I don't go through the thread and update it. Thanks fellas.

OGSM Spec Nitron R1 (Single Adjustable)
Bend Calibration Flex Fuel & Tuning
Wagner Intercooler
Essex/AP BBK F&R

First time back to COTA after our baseline testing. Very happy with the progress to this point! More to come!

(Oh and I did go faster on yoko slicks but only got one hot lap and the hard compound slicks hadn't fully turned on yet. So 2:23 is already there for 223 but I want a real run before I get into those details )

I'd like to lay claim to the Summit Point winter tire record! Lol.

Went to instruct originally but couldn't pass up the chance to do a few "hot" laps. Did a 1:28 on Michelin Alpin PA4 and OEM brake pads which started to complain after a few laps. Ambient temps in the AM were about 17 degrees IIRC.

Also, I assume Landapanda is the one in this vid with me. Pleasure seeing you again dude!

He's not on the page but I showed him the google doc!

He was on 275 square Hankook C51 slicks (very slightly faster than a Hoosier based on what teams have told me).

I think the ambient temps helped more than hurt the times as I ran my personal best as well!

That was me you were passing … and great job out there on those winter tires. I had a hard time keeping up with you!

I am uploading couple of videos from Friday and will share them here shortly…

Anyone gonna be at Road ATL with Chin on the 19th and 20th? Plan to be there both days, trekking down with a buddy of mine in a GT4

First time physically at the track, but know it virtually very well lol! Would be cool to workshop with any locals
