M2C Autocross

I recently autox'd the M2C a few weeks back and the car felt phenomenal overall. I would say the only complaint I would have had is that the stock PSS tires got a bit greasy after a few runs and the car felt a bit squirrely.

I think with a nice RE71r setup this car would excel at autox. Also... anyone that says this car is stiff hasn't autocrossed it .

Any other tips for autocrossing the M2? Any tips to improve the car and remain in the street class?

Ha. Yes. The Cup2 tires felt much better. They let loose a lot slower and more predictably and I didn't feel much difference after they got warm. Nice change!

I also started to take the M2C out to a few autox events. After talking to other M2 and M2C owners about their B street setup, general tips where:

RE71Rs where the tire of choice in 19s. OG M2s were running 275 up front 285 in the rear. M2Cs has a harder time squeezing 275/35/19s up front, so I stuck with 265/35/19s. Also front swaybar helps. Dinan kit is the preferred one due to the range of adjustability and comes with adjustable endlinks. I decided to go Hotchkis route as it was cheaper (~$500 for the kit) but only installed the front to keep car B-street legal.

Advantages of OG M2 from what I can gather are: 1) they can use staggered 18/19 allowing them to squeeze 285/35/18s up front and 2) less weight as PrinceCity mentioned.

took mine to Auto X at autoclub speedway with speed ventures. the pss tires are useless beyond canyon runs IMO.

Totally right about the suspension though its not stiff at all in an auto x setting.

Do the RE71R, its such an improvement over the MPSS!

This was my last AX, I did this site few times on MPSS and after with RE71R and they are much sticky. Also used on full track and thats where they shine.

I heard about re71r has overheat issue on track, after couple of runs it will be greasy. Do you have this problem?
I'm thunking about swap pss to either re71r or cup2.

The RE-71R definitely gets greasy after a few laps on the track. They actually make their best grip when they're quite cold, which makes them a fantastic autocross tire, but not as good of a track tire.

If you want something that's good at both autocross and track days, I recommend Goodyear Supercar3's. According to Tirerack's testing, they are a hair off of RE-71R's in peak pace (I've never run them back to back myself), but from my own experience, they feel similarly fast, hold up to heat much better, wear much better, resist rollover on camber limited cars better, and are cheaper to boot.

There are sometimes better options for specific applications, but it's what I now recommend as the go-to tire for someone looking to get into serious summer tires, since it's so good all-around.

What size would you recommend for the M2 Comp (stock suspension except maybe camber plates)?

Looks like the Hotchis bar has as many settings as the Dinan bar. Does the bar get stiff enough or would you like to have more?

Has anyone tried the aFe front bar? I know it’s non-adjustable but curious if there are any experiences with it.

Pretty happy with the range of stiffness the Hotchkis bar has. It made a noticeable difference on slalom runs. Rear end was less twitchy.
