Imagine you're 20 and you have $20k to invest - what do you do?

A lot of smart people here...so I give you this scenario for feedback:

You're 20 (no it's not me)
You have managed to work and save $20k which is sitting in savings
You have $2500 in QQQ
You will graduate from college in 2024
Income between now and graduation is TBD (maybe another couple thousand after expenses)
No debt now or upon graduation

Next move is...?

I've already given my advice so I figure I'll throw the net out and see what others would recommend

Not passing judgement but OP lives in Huntington Beach and drives an M340 at age 20. Easy to see how college is paid for.

At 20 (long time ago) I was aggressive and it paid off...then. World markets are sketchy. I'll be surprised if 8% over 30 years moves forward.

I day traded, I controlled quite a few companies investments for years.

Right now ? I have savings in Vanguard Wellesley Fund. Prior to March, much was in Wellington. (pulls 8% year, and look how it did in 07/08...right)

At 20, put it in a medium risk. Time value of money will take care of the rest.

Ha I get it.... how I wish it were true (being 20) - while I do live in HB - not asking about me (updated my original post to make that more clear)

Just looking for opinions with the scenario I shared

gents (and a few gals) - I am now going to leave this thread because I can see it getting a bit sideways - thanks to all that have kept on track and responded, I appreciate all of it...(the solid advice most of all but the laughs too).

So with that I bid you adieu (in terms of this thread)

I was 19 with a nu 2002 330xi, so young the F'ing dealer wouldn't let me drive a loaner...

got a house too and ya my parents helped me buy some furniture (that's it) I started a company, I bought a house all before I was 20 with no financial help from anyone

Now I know why I got gray hair by 30?!?

I would split that $20k four ways. With the first three quarters I would buy Apple, Amazon, and Tesla. With the last quarter think about a little gamble on Palantir. If you don’t want to gamble, go with Microsoft instead. Disclosure - I am not a professional investor or advisor, and I own shares of all of those companies I just listed. Come back to me in a year and we can compare notes.
