Intro - new M2C owner
Hi all!
I have always followed these forums and I am the sort of car guy that started as a little boy sleeping with toy cars in his hands. I studied automotive engineering so I hope to get into tech conversations here and I was living in Munich for 4 years and worked indirectly for BMW. I have finally put together some savings for a car of my choice and was waiting for the G87 but that is likely to be a very pricey, despite incredible to drive for sure, car in Spain. I am in love with the styling of the F87 and since I lived in Munich and speak german I chose to buy the car there with the specs I was after (6MT / Hockenheim Silver / Sport Seats / M Sport brakes / roughly 7k miles). The car got delivered this week and I cannot be happier. I am registering it now but the eventual goal is to run some light track days and enjoy the nearby tracks (Jerez, Monteblanco, Algarve and Ascari to name a few). Aside from the new little M car, I drive a VW Scirocco and ride a Honda CB650R. Thank you all for reading! |

Congratulations and welcome! I can feel the excitement as I'm reading through your post. Even better that you're working for the company that designed and built your car. Plus it seems you're proficient in multiple languages, just an overall, great first post!

Congrats and welcome!!! You have fine taste in automobiles! Very cool that you can appreciate the car from an engineering point of view. It makes it so much more enjoyable when you’ve dreamed about a car like this for so long and then worked hard and saved up to buy it. Enjoy those track days!!

You are pretty lucky to be able to buy a car anywhere in Europe and register it in your country, here in Canada it's not an option.
We can only buy from the USA, if we want a car from germany or anywhere else by example, it must be at least 15 years old Congratulations on your new car, you'll absolutely love it, |

Hi all!
Thank you so much for the comments! I cannot wait to start digging out conversations about M2C parts and driving tips. I have a quick question? Were you also kind of scared / respectful at the beginning of your ownership? I guess booking a track day is the best way to learn to enjoy this beast in a safe way! Yes the car industry in Germany is crazy. Is like the country is used to exporting vehicles everywhere and even paperwork is fast and easy. This is why I always feel sorry when I read USA/Canada comments about the lack of vehicle stock. A quick search for M2C in autoscout24 Germany with under 10k miles reveals roughly a hundred hits (albeit all will have the DCT ). I went to see a workshop for ceramic coating on the paint and I want to be an informed consumer. Has anyone applied similar treatment and how much was the bill for it? Thank you all! |

Detailing done
hi all!
Just wanted to give an update for all of you out there considering PPF-ing the front of your car. I went for a detailing treatment including wash, ceramic coating of the entire vehicle and wheels and PPF on the front by premium shield. It was not cheap, let's be honest, but I can add the PPF to the insurance and keep this unique color protected (in the US it might be common but you don't see so many Hockenheim silver in EU). The people that PPFd my M2C told me it was easily the hardest front bumper they had ever done (they were working on a brand new R8, RS6, RX8, M4C and Model 3 when my car was there) I have ordered the performance pedals, modified slightly clutch pedal dead zone with a simple bump stop and I am considering the M suspension or the KW v3. Just something I wanted to ask, to modify the settings of the v3s, is it enough to just raise the car and remove the wheels? a funny sidenote, who else is keeping the M monster in the garage with the price of 98 fuel? hahahaha Pictures for the interested! |

She's a beauty
Yep here in Europe it's a bit of a mess with the gas price at the moment (last fill-up of VPower 100 I paid around 2.50 euros per liter - thanks BMW for the small fuel tank ) I admit that I tend to use the small Miata ND a lot lately (roughly half the consumption of the M2C). But let's not turn our M cars into garage queens - that would be sad Curious on how much you paid for the PPF - considering it on mine (though I would probably pay double as I'm in Switzerland...well that would be a good reason for a road trip down south ) |
