just heard from my SA and hi says they expect high 60's msrp!

also went on to say...

"HEA cars will be going into production in next month, orders will follow. Although they will produce it for longer than the 1M, my manager informed me production will 100% be capped for this year. They suspect to receive about 5 units, but again not confirmed, could be 3 could be 7. Some stores may get more, some will for sure get less."

It's funny he tells you what "they expect" without BMW actually telling them anything. It's a guessing game even for them and his speculation is no better than ours Having said that, he very well could be right... it could also be $62,000 or $75,000

Hope this SA is wrong because I'm out for everything with a base price over $60K. Imagine just $60K base price plus a $1,500 sunroof and a $3,900 DCT transmission plus $2,095 for "Freight and PDI" plus $595 for "Retail and administration fees" plus $100 for "Air conditioning tax" plus 15% of sale taxes on everything, a total of $78,419 for a $60,000 car... And I guess that there will be no place at all for negotiation on the M2 price.

I'm waiting for the price but if this SA is right I'll definitively go for a RWD M235i with premium package and M Performance exhaust and M Performance rear diffuser (I hate the ugly stock one). As the M235i is on its last year before being replaced by the more powerful M240i and with the coming of the M2 I guess that there will be more space for negotiation on the price...

Exactly...msrp is just msrp...cant forget about all the other BS charges they add to (every) vehicle...If he is right...I go 'bye-bye' too.

Im hoping its psychology at play here lol...get you bummed out about a potentially high cost and then, "surprise! its less....now sign here..." lol

The allocation part is also a big factor for me...assuming price is good etc...if i cant get one of the first allocations, im going to have to look at something else and maybe look at the M2 down the road...

Totally agree! At this point, it is only speculations since no "official" release yet. But a "high" 60k MSRP would not be interesting for me...

Maybe dealers are trying to refine/eliminate potential buyers to firm-up their allocation list...

I will try to contact my SA later this week if they have more information to share before the end of the year.

I think some of the low predictions here are optimistic but I also agree a high $60's price makes little sense UNLESS the car comes loaded already. That is, if it was loaded except DCT, that might make some sense. However, if it is a base car, it wouldn't make any sense to price it $6,000 below an M3 (at $69).

The car should likely be $15,000 +/- less than a similarly equipped M3/4. So, the only way $69K makes any sense is if the car comes loaded. I have always thought that a fully equipped M2 would sticker around $70K. A well equipped M4 is $90K'ish. If people think the M2, fully loaded, will be much less than that, I think they are being too optimistic.

2016 GT350 : 63,099
2016 M235i:45,200

even at 63k the M2 is priced too high, c7/gt350 will do circles around it all day long. c7 has way better chassis, gt350 has the best n/a engine under 150k right now. still want a M2, but don't think a 65k m2 base is a logical buying decision.

not to mention M240i will be out with the B58 with water-to-air. a 500$ jb4 will probably net 370whp+/370wtq+ with less lag than N55.

i think a 60k/61k base is more realistic

It's called a badge premium It's amazing how many people buy based on badge and "perceived" prestige

In all seriousness, the C7 isn't really a car BMW will care about as that will be a different market (2 seater, pure sports car). However, I do agree with your other comments. I think the M2 will be $59K to $61K base and up to $72,000 with most options.

Despite what you guys think, in my opinion, if the base car is priced above 58k, then it stops being worth it as there are better alternative in the market for above that price.

MRSP $61,000

OFFICIAL. I just received an email from my BMW sales rep and he told me that they received the pricing info about the M2.

The base price will be $61,000. So with a sunroof and a DCT auto transmission and all the fees and the sales taxes it will be a $80,000 car.

I'm out !

How can it be "official" if BMW Canada did not announced the price yet...

However, the price seems what I expected. Let's see what options it comes with.

Thanks for sharing.

Here is exactly what he told me "Nous avons reçu nos guides de commande pour la M2. Le prix de base est de 61 000$, plus la transmission double embrayage (3 900$), nous parlons donc d'une voiture de 64 900$ plus transport préparation et taxes de ventes.".

Feel free to put it in a translator if you wish.

Perhaps my SA was referring to the initial 'pre spec' cars his dealership will get. Will come optioned well...hence the higher speculated price....
