Has anyone found that putting PPF on the doors is worth doing? I'm debating it for minor scratches from other cars or whatever, but I realize it won't do anything against dings for the most part (unless it ends up saving the paint but still have the dent).

the lower front corner of the door does get rock chips as well as the lower style line as it tapers in, some installers will wrap that lower 2 inches and it will help.

if you can spare the change I would wrap the doors.

Can you take a pic or draw out where? I'm a bit confused. Are you talking the 2" behind the front quarter panel and above the rocker panel?

TIA.

So I asked my guy about PPF in the area indicated below (this was from someone else's post on where to do the quarter panels to replace the small OEM piece). He said it would end up trapping dirt in those lines. Obviously he has some bias here since he wants to do the whole panel, but I'd like to only do this small part. Does anyone think the line would be that noticeable or end up with a lot of dirt, especially on SO?

you can go with the extended pieces but there will be rock chips right above the oem pieces.

Which makes me think it doesn't matter if it's a full quarter panel done or the piece I showed above, the dirt will happen. Do you think the piece outlined on the LBB shown above is good enough coverage on that panel?

When doing film I do think looks to matter, I would ask the installer to make it look more appealing than just that box.

Yes it will but don't worry about it. It can be cleaned.

Also think about long term protection, some lines like this, just ignore it. The paint under it is still protected.

curious on everyone's reasons for PPF. It is quite expensive.

Do you feel you will get any value on resale?

Do you even care as you want to minimize any potential wear while you own the car, regardless of the cost.

My reasons were to minimize/eliminate chips on the paint. It’s worth it for me as I plan to keep it for 10+ years.

Resale value on PPF must be near zero. It might help resale by preventing rock chips. I had the front of my car wrapped since I hate rock chips and I may keep this car for awhile.

I think rear quarter panels are very necessary, I got 3M Pro installed on mine ( replaced stock pieces with larger one ) and it is already beaten up from canyon runs. That would be my paint if I didn't have it.
Reason you didnt need it on 235 ss bc 235 has narrow rear. Those wide fenders on M2 are a blessing and a curse.

I had a very similar size installed about 6 months ago. can barely see the line, the body line hides it well.
The PPF is already banged up back there so it was a very good investment. The rear panels get a lot thrown up at them.

I agree in that you're not getting your investment back, much less a positive return on it, in terms of the dollars spent on PPF - however, it certainly is better to have had it than not when it comes to resale, and if it gives you peace of mind then there's the value.

I ended up going with full PPF wrap on mine, but it was worth the comfort knowing that rock chips and swirls will be minimized, if not eliminated. Also have no intentions of ever selling this car.

Not worth it. Cars are made to get wear and tear from daily driving- not to be embalmed. Paint never looks 100% even with the best ppf.

You just gotta laugh when you see a full xpel stealth wrap on these cars. The fake matte look is a disservice to these cars. Looks douchey. No one wants to buy it later because no guarantee of removal without damage.

Get a good coating and drive it in all it's glory.
