Fancy way of saying they've reduced the output potential of the s55.
Where did they write, it's now the S55? Just curious

Yes, they are putting a tuned down version of the S55 in this.

There's always something that's going to be newer/faster something -er. I don't really see the point in knocking down new editions and improvements. I like the new grill, I like the new front, it finally has a proper engine and seats, and after driving an M2 last year at Thermal I'm very excited about this one, because the M2 was already a great car, I can't imagine what the added power will bring.

10k more for basically a little more HP out of the foul sounding S55? (and some minor cosmetic tweaks, and fugly wheels) PASS!

I'll continue to drive the snot out of my M2 then tune the hell out of it when the warranty is up FTW!!!!

There's no butt hurt when you already own an M car.. get a clue.

Did 95 M3 owners fall out because they didn't have the motor that was 96 and up?

Do you think 99-00 MZ3 owners all had conniptions over the S52 in the 01-02?

Any M car is a special car.

Not so sure about the grill design, but I'll save my judgement until better photos emerge.

I like HS but not a fan of the wheels. 763M is a far better design.

Confirmation on no digital dash, which wasn't expected but would have been nice.

S55 should be great, they specifically state twin turbos, but "weight optimized" compared to what? I don't think BMW would design a new twin turbo set up specifically for this car, but am interested to know all the differences between the M2c vs M3/4 S55.

I like it, but the premium over the regular M2 may not be justified in my mind.

Looks wise, one to see on the metal maybe. The lower chin spoiler is a nice upgrade and the seats are too.

DCT standard, was 6MT an option?

I like how the M2 Competition looks but not the wheels.

These wheels are too feminine IMO. Not a fan at all.

Will other wheels be an option??

I really like the 763M wheels (M4/M3 CS Wheels). I am hoping these are an option!

Looks like we get an analog oil temperature gauge now?? Seeing the cluster I did not see any oil gauge?

Plus the extra weight of the turbos/water intercooler/exhaust.

But it’s irrelevant. It will probably have a more focused suspension than the current M2, and my personal crystal ball says the cooling system will be the real thing - or else why on earth would it need bigger brakes??

I couldn’t make one of these happen for my August Euro delivery, so next year when the furor dies down a bit I’ll quielty swap my new M3 for one of these. Maybe without the wife noticing.

I think other parts of the world DCT is standard (no 6MT option) and some countries its an option. I think this was the case before.

I'm sure IND will offer a color matched grill surround for those that can't take the grill.

There are some great improvements over the original model.
But you'll not see a new model launch without some BS talking

This combined with the fact that BMW doesn’t include the N55 M2 in the M package on their recently launched subscription program proves it to me. I’m willing to bet they will include the S55 M2 in the M package though.

It makes up for everything that was lacking in the N55 M2; Upgraded engine (biggest point imo), upgraded interior, a bit more aggressive styling (grill, bumpers, mirror).

By this you're saying the 1M isn't a real M car either. Boring.

And the N55 lacks nothing. Its a superb engine and M took it as far as it could without sacrificing reliability and longevity. It's not the standard motor as per the M235i.

I like the two new colours, the mirrors and the seats.

I've never been a fan of the S55 engine. I hate the wheels with a passion (the same feelings for the 666M). I dont like the oversized grilles either, they still aren't as hideous as the G10 grilles though.

Feels like the front end was redesigned just for the sake of it to differentiate from the normal model. What ARE those slats for at the bottom?

I'd like to know what kind of premium this model will carry and also how available will it be? Will it be low numbers or not?

I bought a brand new M2 two weeks ago knowing that this car was coming (I've had a deposit with my dealer for two years for a Comp/CS/CSL) my decision was based on 3 factors:

I hate the way the S55 sounds and this is a big emotive factor when driving a performance car, the engine is one of THE most important factors of the driving experience.

Secondly I felt the price of the M2C was likely to be out of reach.

Thirdly with the huge discounts and low cost of finance deals here in the UK it makes the regular M2 a relative bargain, something the M2C will not be. No discounts and on a car that costs a lot more to start with means that the ownership prospect will be a much bigger hit every month.

I'm sure it will be a great car, no doubt about it but the main draw, the S55 engine is both its success and it's downfall IMO. There are those who feel this is everything and others like myself who just can't stomach how bad it sounds.

Do we know what wheels will be available for the M2 Competition? I'm confused by all of the various wheel discussions. I know that my M4 has the 437m wheels which I like. Thanks

Things I Like About It: more power (not necessary but no one complains about that), seats, mirrors, more wheel & color choices never bad, M buttons.

Things I Don't Like About It: shape/size/conjoined new grille, smaller & oddly integrated new 'fangs', new cut of exhaust tips (minor), [likely] less pleasing exhaust note, higher [TBD] price.

Things I'd Really Like On My Current M2 (which I knowingly - & purposely - bought before these revisions came out): the seats. (Mirrors are cosmetic/trivial.)
