Question - Light coding

Hi,

I have the 5AC Automatic high beams (as part of the executive package)
but i also have 5AP Decoding for no-dazzle high beam assistance
and 8S4 Variable Light Decoding
as most of you do probably.
So my question is can we have the adaptive lighting coded in to act like they should? tracking oncoming cars with the high beams on all the time. Right now the high beams are automated but the are on or off, not partial.

Sorry if this was covered already.

Thanks

I believe you need a different module altogether to enable it completely.

This is what I’ve been told also. For US cars that is.

I was told by some "professional" coders that the US-spec M2 LCI or M2C LED headlights cannot be coded.

Word on the street is the US-spec cars has a different arrays of LEDs and can't properly operate GFHB as the European-spec headlights can.

The parts numbers do differ between the two regions but I personally, have not been able to confirm this hardware difference in the M2.

I used Bimmercode Expert mode to code back in the anti dazzle (and the 8S4 feature..GFHB/VLD

Check these link out:

https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ght=bimmercode

I have the Exec option on my May built 2020 M2C.

My highs do tunnel around the car in front of me once the coding was done.

The VLD feature is amayzing on the car and having the Laser right high beam always shooting along the tree line is great for deer etc.

Hey Poochie,

I've followed all the threads on what the US cars can have coded back in vs not.

What I'm noticing on my car is the highs tunneling around the car in front of me. Its very distinct. The HB dash light stays on and I can see both the lights slide off to either side of the car in front of me. If another car is approaching the left HB will turn off, or rotate left and then off I believe as well.

Hey, thanks for the update but this subject was beaten to death and I've come to the conclusion that US vehicles can code VLD but not Glare Free High Beam Assistance. It would seem like it's working but not as intended, possible blinding oncoming drivers.

If anyone can prove otherwise, I'm always willing to learn.

ok so i did enable both VLD (Variable Light Distribution) and GFHB (Glare Free High Beams).
Based on a quick 10minute ride on a windy road i can say GFHB has a long way to go. If US headlights are really different and we're missing hardware i guess this is the excuse, otherwise this tech needs improving. Very slow to pick up cars in front and a lot of changing its mind. I drove up on some poor soul in a yaris and i could see him adjusting his mirror (or giving me the finger).

i'll give it a few more days but i'll probably be turning GFHB back off.
