Turbo Spool

Just picked up my m2c in hockenheim with black wheels. Couldn't be happier but was wondering if anyone knows when/how the turbo spooling sound kicks in? I remember hearing it distinctly during the test drive but can't hear it and not sure whether it's because I have only driven in comfort and haven't tried sport or sport+ modes yet? Random I know but it's bugging me..

congrats on the new ride! throw it in sport plus and roll down the windows. put it in third gear and give it half throttle down low, 2500 or so RPM it will spool quick. let off and you will hear the pops as the excess pressure is dumped into the exhaust.

the first time it happened I was startled! its pretty loud.

now I do it in a childish, obnoxious way, though I am trying to be good about not waking people up with it. sorry for off-shift workers who live on higher speed country roads

You really need to remove the HC filter and disable Active Sound to hear the turbo spool.

ASD just muffles all the real sound the car is trying to make. Once I did the two things above it was much more pleasurable hearing the actual sounds of the engine.

Not quite sure, but I'm guessing he is talking about the carbon filter in the intake. There are 2 filters, a normal air filter, and then a carbon filter. Removing the carbon one apparently allows much more turbo sounds to be heard.
