ED 1st Time Questions

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to the forums and new to the BMW world. Shopping for a new car for my wife and she's in love with the M2C. I had a few questions on ED and pricing that I am hoping you guys can answer, or point me in the right direction if they were already answered elsewhere. In which case, sorry for a re-post!

How are you guys finding the pricing market for M2C's lately? I have a few dealerships in the area that all have allocations, but is anyone getting their car for under sticker? If so how much? Do you have to haggle for the $2kish off that BMW supposedly offers for doing ED?

The SA at one of the BMW dealerships told me I can order the car up to 5 months in advance. I am looking to pick it up in April or May of 2020 so he said he could not place the order prior to Dec 2019. If I place the order 5 months in advance, will the car just be sitting around the warehouse for a month or two? I don't have to order too early and have the car sit around, but at the same time, I want to make sure I lock in an allocation and a date that is convenient for us to go to Germany and pick it up.

Any other good information I should know about the process?

Thanks!

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. It happens to every guy at some point.

The standard ED discount is 5% off the MSRP, so the discount should be closer to $3,000 on the M2C. With quite a few dealers having available allocations now, it should not be too hard to have a dealer sell you a car for ED MSRP. If you are willing to spend the time to call around the country, since you still have time, you could potentially save a little more under Ed MSRP, but your mileage may vary. I had no issues with my dealer and in fact we didn't even discuss it too much, it was just assumed that since it is an ED we will do ED MSRP.

I just came back from a May 2019 ED of a M2C so your timing would be similar to mine. While I let my dealer friend know last September that I would like to do an ED in May the following year, there wasn't any allocations available and we had to wait, but I was pretty much assured that one should be available by then. There was an allocation that because available in December for a February build, and the dealer said it was too early so we waited. At the beginning of February this year, we finally got an allocation for an end of March build and we finalized all the paperwork for a May 20th delivery at the Welt. Your dealer is tell the truth about ordering up to 5 months ahead, but you don't have to worry about the car sitting in a lot. Once my delivery date is confirmed for May 20th, even though my build date was late March, the BMW system automatically delays the car until about 3 weeks before delivery. My car was completed during the first week of May and it wasn't transported from Leipzig to Munich until the 16th.

Just tell them you want ED MSRP and Not U.S. MSRP. This should be ~$3k off from the U.S. MSRP.

ED MSRP is market. If you need an allocation for August/September pick up, PM me ASAP I have one I'm trying to unload. If your set in next year, 4-5 months ahead of time makes sense because of allocations for M.

ED MSRP is $55,955 to start and with Hockenheim Silver, Executive, Moonroof and Destination it came out to $59,750 which is still $200 cheaper then the US MSRP with Destination on a stripped Alpine White model. I had to wait to get an allocation and my dealer still offered it to me at ED MSRP and BMWFS buy rate of 2.99 for 60 months. Could I have gotten a discount, possibly but at that moment I had a few dealers struggling to secure an allocation so I went with the dealer who had the first one which happens to be 1 mile from my job. Then I became a 3 year BMWCCA member to get the $500 rebate back

Not a bad way to spend that extra cash!
