Best way to safely clean the instrument cluster and the idrive display screen?

Any suggestions? I heard that the instrument cluster on the LCI M2 and the M2C are easily scratched. Can I use the brush end of a lens pen to lightly dust the display without causing any permanent harm (scratches or damages to the anti-reflective coating)?

I've been using this lens brush for years on my MacBook Pro...no scratches at all.

I-drive screen is glass I think so no worries there, I just use a microfibre cloth kept in the glove box.

Phones and laptops are glass or hard plastic, but the instrument cluster is very soft plastic easily scratched. Watch anything with bristles, they can still scratch plastic. Mine is scratched a little using a valet pro detailing brush. Micro fibre cloth is good, but hard to get in the corners.

Lense brushes are for glass not soft plastic, so again watch the bristles.

I bought another super soft detailing brush, perfect.

Guys, guys, guys... come on! You gotta up your dusting game!

Swiffer, man! Swiffer!

Bonus recommendation: If you got hardwood floors and a dog... Dyson Cyclone V10. Boom! Thank me later.

Some people recommend the vinyl dust removal stickers that come with phone screen protectors for removing stubborn dust/particles that won't easily blow off. I haven't tried this myself but it seems like it would work well.

I'm using something similar to Swiffer. The lambswool from Mr Siga. You can easily clean the tool by quickly rotating it between your hands.

It's by the way super duper fluffy....

For the LCI instrument cluster this is the only way it should ever be cleaned. Even a clean MF or soft brush can leave scratches. I don't know how BMW did it but they managed to use the most delicate LCD in the history of LCD displays for the LCI instrument cluster.

Don’t sneeze on it like I did. It’s game over if that happens.

Canned air dusters can randomly spit out some liquid propellants and it will be really really game over at that point. I would be too scared to use that anywhere near the instrument cluster.

Just make sure you shake it up well. I haven't had a problem and I have been using this for a year now.

Yep, it's a joke how easily the anti-reflective surface scratches.
I used a brand new gtechniq super soft micro fibre (a little damp) and it scratched it - probably due to wiping the dust around.
You can't feel any scratches with your nail and they are only visible when the sun is shining in from the back of the car - but they bug me

NOOOOOO

You DO NOT shake canned compressed air. That's how you get liquid to squirt.

My shop vac, switched from suck to blow, works well on the gauges. I figure the filter probably makes the air pretty clean. For the iDrive, I very gently wiped it with a plain MF towel and it cleaned the fingerprints up nicely and no evidence of scratches.

I had some smudges on my cluster and cleaned them off without issue. (I think have not yet seen the cluster in strong sunlight but I could not see anything when i flashed my cellphone flashlight on the cluster)

1) Dust the cluster and general area with one of these

https://www.carclean.com/nl/dodo-jui...ol-duster.html

2) Clean the cluster with a brand new one of these and your quick detailer of choice. Use a lot of product on the smudges and gently wipe away the excess.

Yup same here. I'm really OCD about interior care and the way this screen scratches with the softest microfiber is ridiculous.

Again only visible with low sun from behind, still bugs me
