That's an interesting graph. Even at 85 mph they are adding 20 kilos or 44 pounds of downward force. That's 4 and a half sacs of potatoes on the trunk :-)

This graph shows just how much aerodynamics can make a difference in downward force and by example wind drag.

Yeah it also shows that the divergent turned exponential from 175km/h onwards but even at 200km/h there is only 10-30kg of difference between the spoiler and the wing & wing with gurney.

It's only from 225km/h and beyond that the wing with gurney starts exhibiting much greater down force than the spoiler

The ACS rear lip spoiler is showing anywhere between £1,000-£1,4000 on UK websites. For the slight gain in downforce over the BMW M Performance lip spoiler, which I doubt I could tell the difference anyway, I think I’ll stick with the BMW part at £300 👍🏻👌🏻

Yawn, contrary to popular belief, low speed aero has a huge impact as well. The thing that most people miss is if you're tire limited or not.

Look at what FSAE teams are doing. We ran full aero and we never saw speeds over 60 mph at competition. You'd be surprised what you learn with real engineering data such as lap sims and back to back lap results.

OP, Vorsteiner. You won't regret it.

Cotswoldbmwmini on eBay. Search for them as a seller and the part (51622334541) is there on the 3rd page. There was also some voucher code advertised on the page which meant that instead of paying £325 I only paid £292. They have 4 more in stock 👍🏻

I'm a totally noob on the subject of aerodynamics, so i'm wondering how much the MP spoiler can impact on driving balance and on top speed, after all Bmw recommends to install the spoiler only with the front lip (and vice versa), so maybe there's a reason behind

No one has any data to to share to prove objectively one way or another. The size of the spoiler and the shape don't lead me to believe that there is any significant amount of downforce here but w/e it looks cool.

Pretty chart. Where is the raw data and wind tunnel that they used? Maybe even a few CFD models ? If modeling, i would LOVE to see how precise the M2C models are and what the flow properties were.

This is from shutterganglabs, costs just over 200e and looks as good as the 1-2k spoilers, if not better.

Am I crazy or do the round silver OG M2 exhaust tips just look so much better than the black chrome slanted tips?

It’s also attached with tape and to a body panel that probably isn’t designed for heavy load bearing.

No company I know of will have those raw data to the general public as they are probably categorised as trade secrets.

From my limited understanding of aerodynamics, the AC Schnitzer version will perform better than the M version because it sits higher vertically, the higher (air-blocking) 'wall' at the rear of the car reduces lift and drag more effectively and therefore enhances stability.

I think the impact on aerodynamic forces is not irrelevant if Bmw recommends installing the spoiler only with the front lip and AC Schnitzer say this

this x2.

People need to just enjoy the looks and stop pretending to be engineers on this forum .

Without CFD models or real data, trusting some manufacturers that pooped out a carbon part attached with double sided tape as proving any measureable aero gains is kind of funny.

Trade secrete, no. It's called not having any real data. If they took a screenshot out of their CFD model I'll believe it, but drawing a pretty excel chart, nah.
