BMW people are, in my experience, a bit more brilliant than the average Civic crowd, so your expectations were a bit low.

Give them credit, most recognize the greatness of the Miata, and those that don't are simply lost.

Figured I would give this thread a resolution. After much back and forth, I have placed an order for a 2020 Miata soft-top.

I hugely respect the M2C and I will surely return to the M at some point in the future.

For me, the Miata really wins on the fun factor due to its weight and special notchy shifter. Not to mention having an open top will truly bring some smiles along the way.

Thanks again for everyone's thoughts on the forum!

Congrats...make sure you add a weighted shift knob to it. Makes all the difference in the world.

I went with the Red Ashiko

Good call on the shift knob.

I went with the sphereology on my 2013 NC3 and love it:

Seems i'm a bit late to give any meaningful input, however having driven a 2018 ND (my roommates) a few times, its hard to argue how good of a car it is. Plus for the cost its easily one of the best bang for your buck drivers cars out there.

I personally have an S2000 and will be picking up an M2C within the next few months so in a sense i will be like others who will own "both". Both will be MT as i do not tire of driving stick shift even in traffic. The nice thing about the M2 C is that in a few years you could easily pick up one used with very low miles.

Also late, but I love both. Own an NA, which is my daily / beater car, and then the M2C, which is my night out or just go fast / have fun car. They serve different purposes to me. The NA will eventually end up being the daily and AutoX car, but for now it's just the former. Even with it being 30 years old and worn to hell, the shifter in the NA still feels better than the M2, which is sad lol. Regardless, enjoy the ND. The newer Mazda's are surprisingly nice inside, I love my fiance's 2019 Mazda 3 hatch.

Thank you for the replies gentlemen! Really excited for the ND2 to arrive at the end of the month. People have raves about the shifter and from the brief time I had with it, it is such a joy to use.

Maybe I will indeed pick up a M2C for driving duties and turn the Miata into a track toy.

What color did you get it in? New car is always exciting. I just put in a request for an M2C and once the dealer confirms the car is mine (its out of state) then i should be driving away in about 10 days. Its too long of a wait!

My wife's RF is Red Soul Metallic- it REALLY pops and has a lot of depth if you get it ceramic coated.

That's good to hear! I plan to get PPF, but not ceramic. Hopefully it provides the same shine.

We did both. PPF is worth it for all of the curves.

One thing I'd recommend is the teeny OEM color coded "mud flaps" that Mazda sells. The look good, are unobtrusive, but cut down a LOT of the side spray from rainy roads.

Oh--

Mazdaswag.com is the best place I've found for discounted OEM Mazda parts.

And IF you end up with the small little spray guards for the Soul Red, here are the part numbers (there are a few different part numbers-- it took a bit of research):
Part Name Price Quantity Total

NA1J-V3-450-PR Splash Guards, Front $118.92
NA1J-V3-460-PR Splash Guards, Rear $118.92

UPDATE:

So was really excited about my upcoming Miata. I was tracking it and my dealer told me it arrived at port last week. In fact, I was calling him constantly and he was fantastic.

However, work happened and I may have to move to Virginia or SF. Therefore, may need a larger car for practicality purposes. So unfortunately, I had the hard task of calling this great dealer saying I have to withdraw this vehicle.

So now, back on the hunt for a M2C! Now, I know I should be excited, but I test drove a bunch of Miatas and actually back to back with a M2C. Still, I think the Miata was more fun and will miss it dearly.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited about the M2C, but not seeing it has a huge upgrade in terms of fun. Regardless, if I get a second car, it will definitely be the Miata.

So you dropped the ND, and are now going to get an M2C instead, for more room? Why not an OG M2, and a used ND?

Get 'em both-- that's what we did for me and my wife.

We both get a "toy" and a "day to day" car.

I just want to be responsible with one car right now. Don't worry, I had the same thought. Was going to do a Mx-5 and maybe a CX5 for my practical needs. But rather have one nice car.

So for the time being, we don't need two cars. However, my fiancé agreed that when we eventually require two cars, I can get my Miata and the M2C will be her car

You can lease a CX5 for pretty darn cheap. I still miss by big comfy WK2 Grand Cherokee... Was an awesome daily.
