Lightbulb Mirror Wind Deflectors

Installed wind deflectors by the side mirrors last night and just did a test drive today. Credit goes to Thicwhips . Saw it on his YouTube video originally. I didn't see anyone else posting about them so wanted to spread the info.

HOLY CRAP did they make a difference. I wish I did this sooner and this was the best $10 I've ever spent.

Without them at 45+ mph I would start to get a whistle that got real annoying at 55 mph
The whistle is entirely gone now.

The wind buffeting is also greatly reduced.
0-30 mph has no buffeting at all now.
30+ mph the buffeting is 30% less probably but due to the removal of the whistle noise 100% better.

On the F87 M2c the part fits perfectly with no cutting and matches the corner triangle of the trim pretty well. It looks like it was factory.
I can confirm the M2c mirrors can still fold without hitting them.
They've also updated the part to include 1 set with logo and 1 set without logo.

I'm going to ceramic coat them this weekend so hopefully they don't fade.
The quality is pretty good except for a small injection molding blemish.

This appears to be a solution to a problem that I’ve never had ever in my M2. I know the Supras had bad wind buffeting.

On track with windows open the mirrors 'shoot' a blast right at the center of the seat. Not as bug-covered as the bumper, but you do see the scatterplot. I'm intrigued by these. Is it really just putting those 'edge protectors' in this location, or has the link changed?

pal started a thread on this 3yrs ago . I also had a video on it at that time too.

And if you're wondering about long-term longevity, yup they'll stay on there for years without issue.

Ah cool. I didn't see anything when searching for "mirror wind deflectors". I 100% had a super high pitched whistle above 40ish MPH that was really annoying.

BTW, I saw your post about using the G-series screen on the F87... I bought one and everything works after some coding. Touchscreen and all.

I did a 3d scan of the screen and then a 3d photo map of the screen installed with the gap in the back.

After 32 revisions I have a 3d printed cover that fits pretty well. I also created a screw hole mounting bracket that fits an M5 10mm bolt and M5 nut as well as a bracket that attaches to the 2 metal prongs in the back and uses 3M VHB to mount to the inner surface.

I'll be posting a YouTube video once I finalize that and post the 3D printer files online for anyone to download. This was my first ever 3D scan and CAD design from scan so it's not perfect.. but it's pretty darn good.

Weirdly the right side of my screen sits higher than the left, so I'll need to take it apart again and create mounts for the right side that is about 2mm shorter.

If you're interested and still have your F87 and screen, I would love to send you the printed parts as a thank you!

You were able to get the G30 10.25" screen working in your F87? Wow, good job! Would you mind sharing what coding you did? I took the G30 screen from my F31 and couldn't get it to work in my F87 using the same coding I used in the F31, and even playing around with additional parameters.

I love seeing tinkering like you've done! It probably looks a lot more organic than the foam backer I cut for my F31 (although that one still hides well and isn't obvious). Thanks for the offer too! If I can get a G30 screen working on my F87, I'll take you up on it!
