I'm surprised for all the SMB love. It's similar to Ford's Kona Blue and way too purple for my liking.

Does anyone know the start of production for the M2 CS? July 2019? March 2020?

I like a little purple. My old 92 325i vert was a nice blue/purple color. It was sharp. Then I got rear-ended hard enough that the oil pan cracked. Shift knob came off in my hand. I was OK though. Good car, so much fun.

Show less factory rendering please.

Here are a few real world Misano pictures, taken at the dealer's.

Scott36 said CS announced later in the year.

I think announced in the autumn and production starts around October or November.

As following I'll show you a few LBB vs YMB comparison pictures on M2. Yes, I have a local YMB M2 buddy (could be the only YMB M2 in the world).

Make no mistake, the pictures are edited, because the owners want me to show the best of these cars.

Misano is much closer to YMB than to the deeper blues (LBB, LSB, SMB, even EB). These YMB pictures to a great extent can reflect how M2 will look in Misano Blue under similar condition.

Unlike the M4, there is much more muscle than elegance in the M2 language. Remember how the Austin Yellow ruined the M2 in 2016? If you don't know, google it. Likewise, the Light Blue of any shade will be fighting with M2's design languages, because light blue feels plastic-like. There is no depth in it. Think the Ford Focus RS.

If you feel you like a M2 in Misano from some angle, that's because M2 is a good looking car to begin with. Any deeper blue will do much better under same circumstances.

Also, do not use "carbon bit" excuses for the Misano. Because every color will work well with carbon bits as long as they're put in the right place.

Misano blue is a parts bin color from Leipzig. They mass paint it on the new X2. Let's ask BMW do one thing that is not from part bin - offer a better color please.

That YMB M2 is stunning
Possibly the most impressive M2 I've seen
Absolutely dominates the LBB beside it
Even like the fixed carbon wing

ymb doesn't look like that in person

In reality its some weird baby blanket light blue, totally neutralizes any aggressivenes youd want from a nice M car

On my monitor this color looks like blueberry. It kinda looks like a BMW vintage color. Check out the 3rd car from the end.

Disagree. It often looks better in person as many colors often do. I recall a lot of people making fun of the Focus RS when it was introduced but once people saw the cars in person it easily became the most popular color for that car. No different than LBB where you hear a lot of people here say they don't like it but the sales numbers don't lie as it's by far the most popular color for the OG M2.

I will admit the M2 CS announcement being closer to 2019 (rather than 2020) has thrown a wrench into my plans due to timing. I agree what some are saying that at $80K+ the M2 CS might not offer enough over the current M2C.

But the 445hp, CF roof, choice of Misano Blue, still offering manual, and few other things, if they were in $70K - $75K range, is tempting. Not sure if I saw anything about reduced weight?

My only issue with the M2 in general is that every time I see it, I can't fall in love with it. It is a pretty subdued car IMO. The M3 and M4 just seem more M-ish to me and I thought I felt the opposite for the longest time. The M2 is handsome, but just doesn't scream 'M' in its looks. Just my opinion. For some reason LBB (and maybe some other blue, like Misano) does it justice, but other colors have me wanting more.

Anyway, it is really the M2 CS pricing which everyone waits with bated breath. Because no one is going to deny a Misano Blue M2 CS with CF roof, DCT or manual, is going to be a killer car. There is always incremental changes to every sports car out there, every year. For people who have the OG M2 and M2C, just enjoy it. The M2 CS will be great, but $20K + great, I am not so sure about that.
Didn't see that you got rid of the GT4, how come?

Anyway, I think Misano Blue will be a game changer on this platform IMHO. I'm leasing a Misano Blue X2 through work and I absolutely love this color. Also saw the new Z4 for the first time in white and it did nothing for me. Then I saw a Misano Blue Z4 being unloaded from a truck and that changed my mind completely.

As you said, MB, with a CF roof and 6MT would be my dream new M car for me. However, I just can't bring myself to part with my E36 M3 for it yet, and it remains to be seen how this is priced.

Regardless, I'm very excited to see this car and hope it's not too limited production.

Personally I think MB is a great color. Almost LSB but a bit deeper and shinier? Idk, but the X2 is a horrible platform to do it justice, while I think on the M2cs it will really shine. I've loved my BMW blues (LSB & IB) but can't find it in myself to like LBB. MB definitely beats out all the current offered colors.

Like I said, I'll be picking up my M2c next month regardles, but if the CS comes in at <$73K like some are suggesting, I will be a little bummed I didn't wait... but personally don't think this will be <$78K

Violet is technically it's own color. It's kind of in the middle of the purple/blue spectrum and not really applicable to any of the BMW blues we are discussing. That said I would consider violet closer to a true blue than SMB which is clearly saturated with purple.

Misano Blue is a very very nice colour. I've seen it in varying light in the UK on X2s. Like YMB is looks a solid colour is dull light but has a lot of metallic pop in sunlight.

Trust me it's the colour the M2 has been crying out for finally.

YMB and SMB are definitely mixed blues. Mixed with pastel violet and dark purple. Speaking of mixed blues, I really like the Porsche gentian blue.

IMHO "San Marino Blue" would have been a better choice than "Misano Blue".

Below are a couple of pictures from forum fellow M2PDX who did a 'sprayable wrap' with a color close to San Marino Blue (see his dedicated thread here). Spot on !
