Is it normal to have such a long wait between ED and PCD? How did you deal with the months-long gap between?

I think it's normally 8-10 weeks, and this will be almost 11 weeks. The car was held up for a week and a half at the port (hopefully not damaged in shipping...)
How'd I stay sane? Ordering parts and getting my detail product arsenal ready

Anyone know how PCD affects warranty....i.e.- I paid for my car already and am not doing PCD until August 11th. Do I lose that time? I asked the Genius today on my weekly call and he wasn't 100% sure himself.

The in-service date is the date the contract is signed. When I do PCD, I sign about 7-10 days before the delivery date. So yes, warranty starts when deal is done, not delivery at the Performance Center.

Thanks for clarifying...since no one at BMW or the dealer could answer my question before I'm seeing if they can't do something to make this right...I'd hate to lose 1.5 months of warranty/service.

Anyone considering PCD with a week 37 build? After reading a couple of posts, I really want to do it but delivery of that build week is around late October early November. I live in Illinois, Chicago area, and I dunno if it makes sense to make the venture cause of the possible snowfall the Midwest might get. Anyone have any thoughts?

My car is waiting to be shipped over now and I am wondering about performance center delivery. I had to pass on the European delivery at the moment because timing was not ideal, but I would still like this to be a special occasion since this will be my first M car!
I seem to remember reading on the forum that you can do PCD after your car has been delivered to you. Can someone confirm or deny that statement? The reason I am asking is because I am week 49 build and expect the car to be here at the end of January and I would rather not try to transverse half the country in the middle of winter on performance summer tires. =\ If it is not the case I may still consider doing the performance center delivery, but will have to really take it under consideration. My car is currently waiting to be put on a boat, so how much time do I have until I have to make a decision? Once it's loaded, it's a done deal, as that will influence what port it is shipped to, I take it? |

Call your CA first thing in the morning and ask him.
From the logistics perspective I would say you are too late. If the car is at the port waiting to get on a boat it might be set in stone on which to load and can't chance if it's different one that the boat that hits the SC PCD process. I might be wrong. About the redelivery I am not sure you can. I know you can do a PCD and then have the car "delivered" again by your local dealer and have the Genius go over the delivery again with you. Best bet is call your CA and he can clarify. Good luck.
