Ugh, how gut wrenching.
My wife was rear-ended at low speed in her Subaru Forester at the end of last year. The repairs included exhaust, bumper cover, and rear tub work. Total was a bit more than $5K USD. That seems like an absolute minimum for you. |

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is totaled. Pretty sure you bent the frame.

How fast was the other driver going and did the air bags go off?

It was a pretty gentle impact from the cabin, no airbag deployment. There weren't any lights/warnings/codes even. The guy was going fast but it kind of just ripped through the front without transferring a lot of force that I could really feel.

That sucks. Glad you are okay and hopefully you get it repaired and can keep enjoying it.
My guess on the cost… a lot! |

Its totaled. There is obvious frame damage. And if its close, I would push for it to be totaled as it will never drive the same and Carfax will show it as frame damage making it worthless.

It’s repairable, but you will be without a car for 2 to 3 months waiting for parts. The frame rails are very easy to replace once the drivetrain is removed from the the car. It’s the parts cost that’s the killer here.

That looks totaled to me bro. I’d definitely push for it to get totaled. That car will never drive the same again even if they repair it. I’m sorry 😞

For what it's worth, the adjuster will aim to total the car first and repairs after. It's just cheaper for the insurance company that way.
Sorry to see your car like that, glad you're ok! The worst part about all of this is the mental fallout when it comes time to replace it...ask me how I know. |

Lot of confusion here.
1. Sorry this happened bro, glad you're not hurt. 2. This is easily repairable, and the car isn't totaled. 3. The M2 is unit-body, no frame, but the damage isn't that extensive anyway. 4. No one here can give you a true estimate off of these two pictures, even if they are an adjuster, you'll need a qualified body shop to do that. Adjusters these days are a joke anyway, they take a few pix (or have you do it), make a generalization, then the body shop corrects it...every time. Don't let this bother you, just consider getting the GTS hood at this time because the extra fitment should be able to be rolled into the estimate for $0, and the paint will match spot on. |

Well, insurance said it was close depending on what they found during the disassembly but I opted to total it just to save a lot of headache. I think someone committed to repairing it will get a steal at auction because the oil cooler was not punctured and the impact was fully in front of the wheels. Rest of the car does not even have a scratch on it and there are still no lights on the dash or codes. 2 shops told me they were confident they could fix this well but it would take quite a bit of time.
BTW, they offered $60,300 for a 2021 car with just under 11k miles. |

I think that's the best outcome. Hopefully you didn't lose too much on the value. FWIW they valued mine at $57k for a '21 with 20k miles. Not bad considering I paid roughly $59,500k for it new. Honestly I would rather have the car too but, all things considered, now is a good time to jump into something different. Maybe you could look into the Emira!
