M Performance CoilOvers firmness?

Hey guys,

Just got my M Perf Coils installed, they feel great.. had it set to about stock height..and just whatever was standard on the firmness (think it is at 3 all around)

Is that the recommended firmness? anyone have experience with it? i feel like i could go firmer, the ride is pretty nice. i think the lower the numbers the more firm?

No.

The recommended settings are:

Front
Rebound - 9 clicks open
Compression - 6 clicks open

Rear
Rebound - 12 clicks open
Compression 6 clicks open

Might want to get it adjusted down into the middle of its operating range too which is:
Front - 595mm between the bottom edge of the wheel rim and the wheel arch.
Rear - 600mm between the bottom edge of the wheel rim and the wheel arch.

HTH.

Thank you!! Can I adjust the rebound and compression by hand without needing any tools or jacking the car up? I have no idea what it’s at now lol

front strut both Comp & Rebo are easy to access

rear - comp easier to access than rebo. wheel off access to rebo much easier

Similar settings for kw v3's. How many clicks does the MP coils allow for?

Can it be adjusted to feel like stock or is the softest still firmer than stock?

I understand the spring rates are over 1/3rd higher, so it's never going to feel as soft at low speed as the stock setup.

0-16 for Rebound, 0-12 for Compression.

I was going to adjust the settings to that, usually the recommended settings are a little bit more “comfort” oriented.. could you recommend a little bit more of a aggressive setting? Not a track setting, but I want one better for the canyons. Any ideas?

Are you confirmed on a track setting right now? I'm on recommended setting for v3's right now and they feel great, although slightly firm on public roads. Body roll is drastically reduced though.

im not sure, i got it installed at auto talent, all iw as told is its at 3 all the way across. i dont know what that really means since the other poster posted different rebound and compression rates were the recommended. currently it does not feel super stiff. not stiffer than stock

My guess is that it may be three clicks from the highest setting, which would be softer than recommended. Recommended setting to stock should be a noticeable difference.

Correct. Rebound makes a HUGE difference on these especially in the rear. Compression helps a bit too around town but not as much as softening up rebound.

Hey guys,

I got the MP suspension for my M2C. Does anybody know if the settings on the suspension require any tweaking, or will the factory settings suffice?

If it's port installed I'm pretty sure they keep it at stock height(you'd be able to confirm that pretty easily), so likely you'll need to lower from there. Rebound and compression settings should be at recommended clicks for street.

If you're talking right out of the box then I couldn't tell you. My kw v3s were new out of the box but were set at one extreme even though I was told it would come at recommended settings.

There is not option for a port install here in South Africa. Everything is done at the dealerships. Having seen port install bloopers, I would not even want to go that route even if it was available.

My main concern is that I am worried about, is that the MP suspension is setup for the standard F87 M2 and not the F87 M2C. Based on the S55 it is expected that the nose of the car is going to be heavier and would wonder, if rebound and compression would need to be adjusted accordingly.

From a ride height that is very straight forward and simple and done to the taste of the owner I guess.

KW V3 [basis of MP coilovers] is showing same part no and setup instructions for both OG M2 and M2 Comp. Supports BMW logic selling same MP Coilovers product for both OGM2 and M2Comp and no doubt setup by dealer will be the same.

As you say, owners can always get the car tweaked/setup to suit their taste/needs.

Fine - either with street settings on oem 19" or track settings on 18" MPSS

This. Although, the low speed ride is never going to be as good due to the higher spring rates.

Front
Rebound - 7 clicks open
Compression - 4 clicks open

Rear
Rebound - 10 clicks open
Compression 4 clicks open

Apparently these settings "have been determined for a flat race course"...and..."can be too harsh for street driving, but deliver a more direct feel."
