Reign in your muscles there, Hulk. LOL But in all seriousness, this happened to my friend's sister in her e46 sedan.

Looks like the clip came off the top. As stated take to the dealer or fix it yourself. The screw is revealed by popping the forward plastic up from the back side (slot screwdriver with tape on). The unit pulls out from the front and there is a connector that unplugs easily).
The clip that hold the metal support might be in the headliner...or broken. Either way you can use 90% alcohol to remove those ugly stickers while you have the unit out!

Thanks guys! Love the humor
My first thought was that BMW should have outsourced this to Mattel and maybe then this would be stronger. I suppose there was a reason the visor on my Z4MC only goes up and down GregoryK, I’m having a hard time visualizing what you said. What I got was to use a flat head screwdriver with tape to pry down the rectangular plastic caps to reveal some screws and keep taking stuff apart until I can see some “clip” broken or lying loose. I’ll try this today. If unsuccessful, I’ll have the dealer deal with it in a couple of weeks along with the 1200 mile service. |

Ugh i HATE the visors in our cars, they're so flimsy. One side will always pop out of it's hinge when you're trying to fold them back into place. That little swing mechanism needs some grease, it's incredibly stiff. Not surprised it broke in that area OP.

Should have bought the Competition. It has what one might call "Proper" M visors, and they are strong enough that you can do chin-ups using the visor, right from the seat. Real M-visors are also more aerodynamic when the windows are down or you've spec-ed a windshield-delete car. Sorry dude, but your visors are totally outdated.

So?
That's why you have a warranty. Take it to the dealer and get it fixed and move on. If you expect ANY man-made machine to come off the assembly line without any chance of failure, be it extremely minor like yours, or potentially major, you simply don't understand machines and their manufacturing process. Talk about 1st world problems...

The humor in this thread is totally worth the post
Everything N55 is so 2018. Time to trade this in ... Cavpilot2k - Thanks for the public service message. I understand shit breaks (have owned VWs and Audi’s for the better part of the last 16 years); just checking if it’s happened to others and if someone has come up with a ingenious solution. That being said, it’s still a basic fit and finish concern for a brand new car. Back to banter and humor. Keep it coming. I’ll report back on any progress I make taking this apart. Need to figure out how to hardwire the V1 too ... |

My executive package came with spare visors, like my kids quad copters, as well as spare seat belt mechanism since that sucks too.

The visor arm is notched and is supposed to "clip" above the while "tabs". If you look at the last picture, these tabs don't sit comfortably under the notch. And when rotated, they pop out.

On the plus side, once the visor is completely removed, it makes a great cheese board.

Pal. Good work!
Sure they might be cheap but if you have the new super quality "competition" !/4" plate steel ones not only do they add the 120ibs (that most other members are trying to find) to the weight of the car but they cut the top of your head off if you get rear ended. Give me the light visor every time!

Lots of BMW's using that same exact part and this is the first I have seen of an issue. Looks like you got the bad one. No big deal the dealer will make it right
