My M2 got its first trackday today. I had RS29 at the front and OEM at the rear. And Motul 600. Other than that all stock incl the Michelin PSSs. Drove 180 km on track and everything worked flawlessly

I bought some Carbotech xp10s for the front and xp8s for the rear. Will see how they work out next weekend at Road America.

I have m4 sport pads front and mp rear pads on m135i with mpbbk. I believe m4 sport pads are oem branded rs29. Same findings as yours ie all works well on road and track.

Since the calipers unlike the ATE style are closed...What is the recommended method for retracting the pistons to remove the pads and then further retracting them to put in the new thicker pads.
The videos I have seen so far assume you're changing pads and leverage against the old pad. |

When I saw a set of Mperformance brakepads for the M4, there was TEXTAR printed on the back....yes I know the standard brakepads are also from TEXTAR.

Are they close (with upgraded brakepads, brake oil) or still a massive difference?

The rotor used is also a true two piece that is not only larger in diameter, but thicker and with improved vane design. For light to medium duty usage the OEM Brembo with upgraded pads(RS29), high temp fluid and SS lines should be fine. Some track guys will upgrade to the Stoptech or other true two-piece rotors for improved cooling and to remove a few pounds of unsprung weight from each corner. If you are consistently overheating your brakes with the above uprades and it's not a brake management issue then it's time to upgrade to an aftermarket brake system. |

After using stoptech on my last car, I would not use them again. My goal is to leave the M2 with stock calipers and rotors. If that doesn't happen I would use AP racing or Brembo. Stoptech was low quality and had lacking support. They stopped well but seals would leak super early require rebuilds which they wouldn't warranty. There is a reason AP Racing and Brembo are so more much money.

In our Time Attack days the brakes held for 2 entire seasons, then it was sold used and stayed on a customer's track only car for a couple of more years. AP by Essex should be on the top of your list as Brembo GT will likely suffer the same fate if used under the same conditions as the Stoptech. These went on a customer's M2 along with MCS 2-way NR. |

Ap Racing brakes and MCS 2 way would be an unbelievably good setup for the M2, and if I can convince myself to drop the money that is my goal eventually. |
