For the uneducated, thoughts on ECUTek vs. BM3 if your ECU is unlocked?

If you want a flash and done tune then Bm3 is your ticket.

If you want something custom, true flex fuel without having to reflash, map switching from your steering wheel, and more custom and future items not yet released then Ecutek is your jam.

In my opinion they're not directly comparable since Ecutek provides custom coding on the factory ecu where BM3 only allows modification/access to the oe tables.

I'm travelling right now so hopefully that makes sense.

Great info, 10 years ago I'd probably go ECUTek but i'm old and lazy now and just want to add some reliable power without fiddling too much.

Every tuner is going to have a different Stage 1/2/etc... tune fyi as it's all bespoke tunes.

It's always been available, however you need to unlock your ecu the old way by removing it and sending it out to a competent unlock provider. OBD Unlock is not available still.

So I forgot to add this a couple weeks ago. Ecutek has on the fly map switching in addition to on the fly torque targets. Works instantly, while the car is running/driving. It's pretty silly to see how it feels without the car building any boost with a 50% reduction as an example but yeah. The other unique thing is the ethanol content flashes on the hp meter (% of the scale)...I had around 30% ethanol at the time I recorded this video. Just a few more examples of Ecutek taking full control of the car.

All this great stuff but not a single damn local shop can bench flash our locked DME's. Don't get it so much money out there to be made and not a single tune shop learns to bench flash the old school way

Tough to find a place; you may just have to bite down and ship out your ecu to a capable shop.

I added an ethanol content sensor and zeitronix can-bus device to transmit the content over can.

A privilege I'd pay to do again as it has been awesome and I've achieved "my" main goal of having a fully flex fuel vehicle with on-the fly map switching.

This isn't my first time at the rodeo and my tuner has been doing this for over 15years. This has been the easiest and most seamless experience when compared to the standalone experiences of the past and I've had no issues.

Also this has been out of beta for quite some time.

Will do but I feel that I'm in pretty good hands as it is. Luckily I drive the N55 and can do this without pulling the ECM.

Sorry been too busy recently to go on forums. Thanks for the kind words!

As far as I know, it's still a worlds only & worlds first. I'm looking into how to get it to be slightly more aggressive in terms of target torque at launch, but honestly on street tires, even launching at 3K RPM is plenty,.
