Maybe the Dinan, not sure.
Not a full exhaust system, but AA mid pipe is the best option for the s55 that I've heard.
Agreed.

I had some old shipping paper and the box it was shipped in, tore/cut it up and tucked it in some of the space above the muffler. Used some cheap gloves for the exhaust tips.

Thanks for the answers guys. I'll be doing it very very soon too. I want to do it properly. I'll raise the car on the lift, wash and degrease the muffler, prime it and then paint it.

I'm not painting mine. Seems to really bother everyone.. I don't see it when I drive and I park it in the garage tail first so doesn't show. I think its been made a bigger deal or perhaps people put much more emphasis on how things look versus the driving experience. My time is limited, so when I have free time I drive the car, I don't use that time to worry about all the little details of its looks. Drive them, Maintain them and enjoy them.

I'd like the muffler to be painted, but I don't really want to do it myself (I have a sad history with paint...it's best that I don't paint things). If some paint fairy could stop by overnight and take care of it, that would be great.

Same here. I still have a few months before I take delivery so I am hoping there are better aftermarket exhausts available by then.

Not painting it. Was going to but now I am used to the look. Save some money and don't have to worry about scratches or paint flaking off.

No I I didn't do any prep other than make sure it was dry. I'm lazy! I left the areas above the pipes, as I didn't want to risk over spraying the pipes. Plus the bit that bothers me most is the muffler hanging below the pipes. It still looks 90% fine, but there's always a new small area that is about to flake off.
Hey guys,

I painted the muffler probably something like 2 months ago and haven't had any flaking whatsoever, nor any need to re-apply.

I think I read in a previous post that someone used a paint rated up to 600C or something like that? In my own case, I used the pictured paint, and it's rated at 703-1093C. Maybe that's why some others may be experiencing flaking?

Hope this helps!
Hi, thanks for this. I have managed to find this on Ebay along with the white primer they suggest you apply first.

Did you clean and prime your exhaust before spraying on the black paint?

Cheers,

Karl

Hey man,

Nah, I didn't do anything! I'm the laziest piece of S*** you can imagine. So, I didn't prep, I didn't clean, I didn't prime... nothing. I just laid down on the ground, pointed the can upward, sprayed, and that's it.

It's now been almost 6 months. Still looks like day 1!

Well, I'm even lazier than you - I'm getting someone else to do this for me when they also tune my car and fit my AA mid pipe 😁 I'll make sure they clean and decrease the can at least. I bought that exact same VHT high temperature paint can you used. It was the highest temperature resistant paint I could find so thanks for the recommendation 👍🏻

I prepped and cleaned, just because I've never done anything like this and I was pretty sure I'd eff up every single thing possible. I was even pretty scared jacking up the car.

Ha! Man, how come my own family isn't nice to me the way you guys are?

I wish I could take credit here, but ages ago there was another gentleman who posted a photo of his M3 or M4 udder and he'd used the VHT paint to camouflage it. I just followed his lead!

But this is awesome. It's like somebody else discovered E = MC^2, I use it in an equation, and everyone's like, "Dude, you're a genius! You discovered E = MC^2."

I'll take it!
