I would quit looking at it? It is what it is?

Manufacturers have budgets and regulations to deal with and stock components can sometimes suck. The low hanging muffler is a perfect example of this. Modding your car is fun and rewarding, especially when you make it "better than stock".

Much better argument than what I proposed in my post above.

**For added adhesion, I lightly sanded the can with 1000 grit sandpaper. I have my infrared thermometer in the car and will start to monitor it.

I have no plans to paint mine since it doesn't bother me as much as it seems some others here. I rarely look at the rear and I don't care how it's perceived by other drivers that look at it.
As of now, I not sure if I will keep this car for at least a year or even 2-3 years max. So unit I figure out what I want to do or if there's another car that peaks my interest, I have no plans to invest any time or money in any cosmetic or performance mods. |

A question for those who have painted their mufflers. Did you actually remove the can before painting it, or did you just carefully mask with paper all the parts and places you didn't want paint and did it still on the car?

I removed the tips, diffuser, and masked everything you could imagine. I had zero over spray and I am 100% happy with it. Best $10 you will spend on a BMW.
