No ppf, I do take care of the paint the best I can but at the end of the day I care way more about the driving experience and power train vs. the paint, as im not a detailing guy and small chips can be repaired quite inexpensively.
Also there are a few marks on the front bumper but nothing terrible. |

I do! It's saved me thousands of dollars already from when I hit cars in the parking lot and they can't trace it to me due to lack of paint transfer.
All jokes aside, my 2018 if fully wrapped and it might cause more problems than it's worth for what happened Sunday. Was in an accident (sideswiped, not my fault) and the entire passenger side needs to be repaired and xpel replaced. If they end up blending the paint, then the roof hood and rear bumper xpel needs to be replaced too. Adding $1000s to the cost of the repair, and my state's minimum liability coverage is only $5000. So it seems like my policy is gonna have to cover all the repair costs. |

No PPF for me either. I'm one of those old skool people that needs to warm up to these new fancy schmancy technologies.
That being said I am trying to convince myself that as long as I have my handy dandy Dr Colorchip around I can do periodic upkeep and will save myself thousands. But as MR pointed out a lot of damage/impacts leave actual "craters" - esp on the plastic bumper - rather than just a chip. I can fill it but the crater (with raised edges) is still there - but it gets it to like 90-95% not really noticeable. |

No PPF for me right now. Had it on my last car about a third of the way up the hood and side panels. Could always see the lines and car washes seemed to make them even more pronounced. Drove me crazy.
I know one way to fix that would be to PPF the whole hood/panels, but would rather put that kind of money into other mods.

Got my M2 Xpel'ed over about half the car, maybe a little bit more.
I plan to keep this car for a long while, and I knew that getting chips on it would have driven me crazy! First time I've put Xpel on a car, and it's really remarkable! I have PPF on the doors, but just behind the doors it's uncovered... there is NO WAY anyone could tell that there's film on the doors, but not on the panels directly adjacent! Only seam that's visible is by the roof, where I PPF'd the A pillars, and the area just in front of the sunroof, so there's a very small seam on both sides of the roof. Anyways, to each their own! Some people spend over $3,000 so that their exhaust sounds better, others spend thousands so their M2 goes 2/10 of a second faster to 60... I spent a few thousand so my M2, in six years, will look nearly as good then as it looks today! The wife spends $200 on a pair of new shoes and I flip out and ask her if she doesn't have ANY appreciation for the value of money... then slip out and go have that $500 carbon fiber spoiler installed! We're all crazy, just in our own ways!!! |

Damn that's a good post. Well written, thoughtful, objective, and it has absolutely no place on this forum. Hey mods, can we ban this guy? Maybe just for the rest of time, or until Ford figures out how to align body panels properly, whichever comes first? We don't need infidels like this chlorinating the thought pool. |

Could you arrange a tour for us at FN Herstal the next time we visit Belgium? If so, we'll buy the coffee and dessert at A Wafer Saperlipopette.

No PPF here. Even if it wasn't absurdly expensive (you can actually buy a used car for the same price! [much like the akra exhaust rip off, but I digress ] ), I just don't care. Speed matters to me. But as they say, to each his own. Just like the first response, OP why do you care what others do with their paint?

I got my car with 3k on the clock and bunch of rock chips on the bumper. I'm gonna leave it unprotected until I have to respray the bumper. Then I might cover it up.

I don't think this is such a ludicrous question given how many people put their car in a bubble wrap before getting it ppf'd.
I thought long and hard about it, but I just couldn't justify spending $6K on a full ppf. I also couldn't justify just doing part of the car for $1,900 as it would feel incomplete, so I decided to do nothing. It did not take very long for the front bumper / splitter to pick up some rock chips, so I just shrugged and told myself I'll buy the oem euro front end replacement if mine gets bad. I instead put all the ppf money towards a AA CP, AA DP, AA FMIC and AA tune, as well as Dinan CF intake and as much CF as I can find for the car. No regrets All that said, I do plan on replacing the clear rear fender ppf (its yellowed a bit) with a matte black ppf to contrast with the AW car. I saw another forum member with this done and it's slick. |
