A lot of praise for the retuned MDM..... But what does this mean for those of us in North America? Last I checked BMW programmed the North America cars to have a much more restrictive MDM. Will that be the case with the M2C as well? If so these Euro car reviews are not really accurate for those on the other side of the pond.

You can always code Euro MDM.

US MDM will probably be much more restrictive compared to the Euro version as usual.

That sucks. I’d hazard a guess that this is because of how you guys like to sue companies for “unexpected consequences”. Probably why you have that orange thing stuck on the front of the car too.

However, you don’t have that spongy vacuum cleaner thing in your exhaust that I suspect we will be getting. So there’s at least that! Swings and roundabouts.

Its the dual mid section. AA single pipe mid section gives it a much deeper note, synchronizes turbos.

I’ve heard some really good combos with that mid section.
I've had it. It's better. Still not "good" by any means.

It's the bi-turbo setup from what I've been told.

Coding the car is easy and doesn't void warranty. It will be too abrasive stock.

Wouldn't that increase back pressure?

Absolutely. Going from cross sectional area of two pipes into one would definitely increase pressure, not sure if that would be good for the turbos... unless you put a single pipe that has a huge diameter that would equal the sum of the cross sectional area of the two pipes

I've read that the large diameter single midpipes actually reduce back pressure.

Gave my opinion...or are we not allowed to do that anymore? Seems quite a few agree btw.

You could have followed your own advice and ignored my post. Yet you didn't.

Bit of a hypocrite don't you think? (psst, that's rhetorical)

Does the US spec include the exhaust valves? Can't really find it anywhere.

I don't see why not. All US spec M2/M3/M4 have had exhaust valves so far. Valves are the main reason why these cars are super quiet in Comfort mode.

Are they really super quiet? How close to M240i/340i quiet do they get?

By quiet I mean compared to Sport or Sport+ mode. Stock vs stock (no m performance exhaust etc), an M240i, 340i is more quiet than an M2, M3, or M4 if we compare them in the same drive mode (Comfort vs Comfort, Sport vs Sport etc).

I have a M135I and test drove an M2. The OG M2 in regular mode sounds only a bit quieter than my M135i in sport mode with a downpipe and a tune. It could be because of the ASD but its not too quiet.

Apologize if this is a repeat but I didn't see it after a quick search.

https://practicalmotoring.com.au/car...tition-review/

"All the while the M2 Competition is telling you what it’s up to, and reacting to your inputs ultra-faithfully. It’s an utter gem. For comparison, within a couple of hours of driving the M2 Competition on the road I took an M4 CS, a stripped out but still roadgoing M4, down the same route. The more expensive car felt unpredictable at the back end and short of feel at the front, so I drove it more slowly. And it had ridiculous tyre noise."
