Very true... but somehow I feel nothing beats the good old charge cable. Well I for one use them super slim battery pack cases they carry an additional 5000mah of juice.

I've never used the charger in the center console since I usually use my phone for GPS. I have a wireless charging phone holder that goes into my CD slot, works pretty well (but obviously charges slower than wired).

Actually its a great feature for long trips. My iPhone X fits in the charger and wife has a cable for her 8+ so she doesn't have to freakin #%#%$^ keep unplugging my phone to make sure hers is charged.

BMW in Milton Keynes actually demonstrated the wireless charging to me and they said it was a pain and anything but the smalles handsets dont work properly, so I didnt spec it as I usually have a plus model phone.

I recently upgraded to an iphone X - biggest pile of rubbish apple have produced in years - complete dog of a phone. Been returned and iphone 8+ instead now. I couldnt in all honesty recommend the X

If your car has the phone charger in the console it can be retrofitted to wireless charging.

There's a real good video on YouTube on how to do it. It's in German so there might be the language barrier for some, but the video is great. It's a little difficult but if you take your time you'll be fine.

I did mine so I can use it and my wife charges hers with the USB port.

Seems to me the real point is, worldwide, there are 4X as many Android users as Iphone users, and aside from Samsung, most of them dont use wireless charging, and those that do mostly wont fit.. More to the point though, with the majority of phone users around the world Not using Iphones, where the heck is my Android Auto... BMW prejudiced toward Android owners? I thought diversity was the name of the game these days..

Those worldwide numbers are not indicative of the typical BMW consumer who is typically of higher income and wealth. Apple owns the high income and wealth demographic as most of the Android base is lower end phones for consumers that aren't necessarily buying BMW's. It's why you see most celebrities, executives etc use iPhones. Hell even Bill Gates personal phone is an iPhone. However I believe the main reason is that BMW wants a fixed interface in their cars;

I believe the reasons most non tech people like IOS (execs, celebs, etc) is because Apple phones are less configurable and therefore, simpler to use. Most techies, Gates notwithstanding, prefer Android phones. But Ive never seen a stat as to the Apple phone users being wealthier.

Plenty of data out there that supports it, do a quick google search on it. As a software engineer I prefer an iPhone because I just want something that works and doesn’t crash after the first year of ownership. I’ve owned more android phones than iPhones. On that note I’m planning on switching to the Nokia 8110 if it comes to the USA, because smart phones waste too much of my life.

This isn't exactly big news as it's been common knowledge for years. There are several stats that show all sorts of information from people with higher education, higher income, higher income states, preferring iPhone, etc. Just google "android is for poor people" and hundreds of topics come up.

Id much rather see non apple and current source results, not 4 year old data and that which is apple sourced.. Nevertheless, BMW must see it your way, otherwise like most other automakers, theyd be offering both Apple Carplay And Android Auto.

However, it is well known that IOS users are less tech savvy and prefer being spoon fed.. Just google it.
