Smile m2 lci

I paid $90,000 drive away for my brand new off the showroom floor, September 17 build, April 2018 compliance, AW M2 (not the pure) DCT. sunroof and 'through rear seat access'.

so dealer got back to me prices he quotes:

113,353+onroad
for reference, LCI's price 106,324+onroad

not bad at all! but a mere 3k off the m3 pure price

Finally a more definitive price! Thanks for the info. ~ 6.5% increase isn't bad. So i'm looking at ~123k for the options i want. Hope dealers are going to give some discount..

So almost $30k more than what an M2 is going for right now

Not worth it IMO

Only reason it's $30K off the current M2 price is that it's the out going model and they want to clear the stock for the M2C. A few months back there was little discount on the M2.

That's what the price is now, what it was before isn't really relevant if you are in the market today

Im more interested in the price difference between the lci and the comp when the next gen comes around, will there still be a 30k difference come trade in time?

Im still not yet decided if ill trade in for the comp early next year or wait around for the mk2..

I also dont see how this is an apples and oranges comparison lol

Not true. I negotiated a drive away price under $100k for an LCI around April last year for one of the first deliveries in Aus later in the year. Discount has always been there if you find a motivated sales person and push hard enough.

Regardless of the $figure (whether its $10k or $30k), the "only" differences that I can see are:
  • 0.1 Sec Improvement in the 0-100 acceleration (+)
  • Front parking sensors (+)
  • Updated seats (+ ... although that's a bit of personal taste)
  • Updated mirror covers (+ ... again, personal taste)
  • Two additional colour choices, MGM deleted (?)
  • Updated wheels (- ... again, personal taste)
  • Lousy engine note (-)
  • Hideous kidney grill (-)

So the question that I ask, is are those differences worthwhile paying that $figure amount? On the whole, they are such marginal updates, and you'd have to be a super skilled driver to wring that extra 0.1 sec out of the engine which is the main improvement. I know that there are other bits 'n pieces (e.g. M buttons on the wheel), but they aren't anything that I attach value too (or see as detracting value).

Personal choice, but I'm totally happy staying with my LCI

Cheers,

By all accounts the s55 is a far more capable motor than the n55, especially if you are whiling to tune. Just go read up on the differences between them.

Each to their own, but the price is worth it to me. You will also notice the hit in resale, but that is inevitable on all new car purchases.

Is the charger in the side storage or under the dash?

The S55 probably is more capable ... the capability concerns I have are in relation to my skills as a driver My LCI is already a far more capable car than I am a driver, so I'm not interested in squeezing more performance out of my M2 regardless of what engine it runs.

That aside, in relation to differences between the N55 & S55: if I had wanted that engine, I could/would have purchased an M3/M4. That the M3/M4 is a brilliant car with an incredible engine is something I would not dispute (and that the M2C will be as well), but I intensely dislike the sound of the S55. It's always a matter of taste, and in my case, I doubt that I would be a buyer for the M2C just based on that alone ... especially when the N55 is available (2nd hand).

Totally agree - and congratulations on your purchase... you'll have a blast. The M2 / M2C are both fantastic cars

BTW, you may have misunderstood my point on price - I probably didn't express it so well For someone who doesn't have an M2, there is an interesting dilemma during this window before M2C production starts: Do I purchase an LCI, or wait/advance order an M2C and pay a (large) premium?

My comment on price related to Who?, as an existing M2 owner where that dilemma becomes Do I purchase an LCI, or wait/advance order an M2C and pay a (huge) premium as I have to eat added depreciation on my less-than-1-year-old M2...?

Cheers,

I don't want to get into this discussion about M2 and M2C and I think there is enough of it in the main M2C thread. The perception of money and value differs for everyone. We just want to know the Australian pricing for the M2C since there is little info to date compared to other countries.

Then the fun starts.
