Beefier I had my M2, I used this wireless charger with my LG G6, which like the iPhone is Qi compatible: https://www.amazon.com/CHOETECH-Cert.../dp/B00C40OG22

My wife's car doesn't have a wireless charging area, but I'm planning to fit one of these under the front center console tray at some point... Shouldn't be too difficult because thereis already usb powered there to tap into.

yeah, it's slow as f*ck. I just finished a 3.5 hour drive. Did not use the phone once. Charged from 20% to 80%. it still beats hooking up wires but man, it's pretty slow.

It depends on the phone as well as the charger. My LG G6 charges from empty to 100% in the M2 wireless charger in about 2 to 3 hours, and that's with making a few phone calls as well.

It's not quite as fast as with a cable, but it's very very close.

I think it could be that the iPhone is slow to charge wirelessly. Don't be too quick to blame the car.

Wireless charging in the M2 is limited to 5W. The new standalone wireless chargers that Apple sells from Mophie and Belkin are 7.5W, and they're the only ones that charge the iPhone X at that (faster) higher wattage.

Wireless charging will always be slower than a direct, wired connection.

Maybe there is a way via coding to increase the console charger, similar to the USB ports?

(though when I went to Bimmercode on demo mode, I didn't see these options anymore. I might have to connect to the actual car)

That pretty much eliminates all the phablet phones. (Notes and iPhone+ models)
So an IPhone XR fits at 150.9mm without a case

I was reading on another thread that you can do it if you have option 6NS,convenience telephony with smartphone connection. My car has that option and I would like to do the retrofit if it can be done.
Bump - same question - can you retrofit it?

Yes you can. I did it on my 17. Takes a little bit of time and patience but it can be done.
