I called my dealer, but they seem to be equally clueless on this. They suggested using the MyBMW.ca credentials, which don't work.

I also tried to create an account on the US ConnectedDrive site. I was able to create the account, but on first login it asks to to accept some updated terms of service which I do, but it just continues to ask.

BTW, it is BS....a friend who also owns a bimmer showed me his car with the Remote app on his phone

Carplay can work wirelessly and chances are it will be wireless with the M2. It depends on your iPhone model however, but I'm not sure which ones can/can't. All models can do it via USB though.

Now, given how BMW is handling the M2, wouldn't be surprised if they went plugged-in only for no good reason.

Just finished setting up the internet. To setup go myvehicle.att.com which is where you will go to pick your data plan after the trial.

It is BS, I've had that app working for years! One thing to note, when entering your user name/email make sure its all in caps, try it if you haven't already.

Yeh you can connect the hotspot without having the data plan. Wireless audio sounds horrible!!!! I was going to change the speakers until I plugged my iPod in and its sounded good not as good as the HK on my f30 but good enough. I will keep the iPod in there and have it connected to the hotspot to get Spotify and updated podcast.

hummmm...can I tether the car to my phone and use the car's hotspot to connect other devices instead of my own?

no i dont have carplay and i didnt event try been focusing on getting other stuff setup, like the data for the wifi hotspot.

are you asking if you can connect your phone via USB and have the iDrive rebroadcast your data over its wifi hotspot? if yers, then no that is not possible car has a built in AT&T sim card.

FWIW, when the owner's manual for the 2017 M2 talks about setting up CarPlay, it says to turn on WiFi and Bluetooth on the car and phone.

I passed on my dealers first allocation because of this reason. MY17 is in production now so it's not a big deal for me. I don't mind waiting.

CarPlay connects via Bluetooth. I also had it plugged in to the armrest USB and I think it was still going over BT b/c when I unplugged it the music kept playing without a skip.

Going to try testing by turning off BT while plugged in later this week.

BTW, the music over BT sounds fine.
