Stock Lci m2 is already a car of the century. I cant imagine how cs could perform better. With that said, i am happy with my lci m2. No need to be excited for cs.

I like it very much although it's not imo at the level of the iconic BMW blues such as Estoril, Le Mans or Avus.
Not sure whether it was due to the odd combo blue paint/gold wheels/red calipers of the car on show but most people around me were not fond of Misano. Black and white were the popular choice. Hockenheim Silver appears too much associated to the M2C and with HS the M2C blue or silver calipers probably a better match.
Considering that you have also the (rather understated) red stiching and M stripe on the seats I think the best combo would be black or white paint, black wheels and red calipers. With Misano Blue I would go black wheels and yellow CCB calipers, something like this

A way more capable motor, Adaptive Suspension and stickier tires.

The same way the electronic torque-vectoring diff makes M cars track superstars. The electronic suspension improves the handling on the CS.

A automobile is merely a sum of parts working together, improve on that and you get a better performing machine.

I love the original M2, as it's a tight, fairly affordable, bite-size package but I'm not naive enough to believe they can't improve on it with a larger budget to work with.

True.....it's a great car that M2 CS (from what I have seen live), but the asking price is too high (only downside in my eyes).

Today, last occasion for M-League members to go and examine the M2 CS at the Brussels BMW Brand Store.
After the reservation a second opportunity to visually round out my first impression from 10 days ago and to double-check some specifications.
As usual and without phones a staff member escorted me to the guarded room on the first floor where the new M2 descendant is kept secretly.
Amazingly I was the only guest at 10:30am, what a luxury situation...
With respect to the demand to preserve some confidentiality until the official release I must emphasize that the M2 CS is not an upgrade of the M2 Competition.
The interior is comparable with the M4 CS. There is a pretty fine combination of CF and Alcantara.
The exterior with a substantial use of CF parts makes it look quite superior to the M2C.
It's now waiting for an exact price tag until November and then negotiating with the dealer.
First deliveries for BMW BeLux are expected for June 2020 as we all know production would just start in March 2020.

The expected delivery date couldn't be more perfect for my situation. June would be ideal.

Just watched the CFRP video. So you think they just flipped the fabric over to show the larger pattern weave? I noticed the bottom side looked more like a checkerboard or chessboard. I actually liked it. I think it will give a nice contrast pattern when the sun hits it.

3:26 in the video. Look the scraps in the trash.

No, I just checked that the car was actually 450hp
The guy presenting the car heavily insisted on the non folding seats, believe in his mind it was a sign of additional sportiness (rigidity ?) compared to the M2C. Had no reason to doubt about what he was saying and to be honest couldn't care less about the folding seats. I was mainly interested in the things which could really improve the driving experience... but since there were not many I admit I also spent quite some time on the cosmetics.
Retrospectively I do not exclude that this event was organized to get customer feedback and that minor tweaks are still possible.

So, does it really have fixed rear seats? I'm a little confused.

Will the M2cs be considered a Model Year 2020 or 2021? What is the typical cut off month for the change over? Or will they all just be 2020's?

And ? ... Sure the back seats fold on the M2 / M2C. I even took the additional option 40/20/40 split on mine.

But have they really drop this feature on the M2 CS ? I didn't check so can't say for sure. May be someone who attended the last days of the preview (Pol ?) could confirm.
Dropping the back seats possibly indicate a search for more rigidity, may be they even added some reinforcement in this zone.

Any M4 CS owner here ? Have the back folding seats been kept on the M4 CS ?

IKEA test: been there, seen the boot handles, dropped the 60/40 split seats.

They included the split-folding rear seats option in the M4 CS, so it makes little sense they might of possible omitted this feature in the M2 CS.

I'm not buying that it was removed in the name of rigidity, unless they maybe added a rear strut tower brace reinforcement, like the in the photo below.

When I had installed one on my Acura Integra GSR, It sort of rendered the rear-folding seats kind of impractical. So that might be the only logical reason it was excluded. :

  9. message to 981 Cayman GT4: "Hi, I am your new track friend. Let's frolic."

I don't think so.

A matter of personal taste. I still got high esteem for the E46 M3 (I used to have an E46 M3 6MT and an E46 M3 SMGII). The E90/E92 M3 coupé, F80 M3 sedan and F82 M4 coupé ventured beyond the 4.5m limit (>177.17in), equally extending the wheel base, which is just a tad too tall for my liking. G80 M3 will be even taller. The F87 raises an 'E46 M3 reimagined and spiced up in the turbo era' impression.

The M2 CS is a 4-seater, no 2+2 seater or 2-seater. One could eventually coin it a truncated M4 CS with M3 CS doors interior, minus 10hp.

Admittedly, not many cars this size are on offer featuring 450hp, 6-cyl, RWD, choice of transmission (manual or dual-clutch transmission), appealing looks, 4 seats, adaptive suspension, a decent boot and quite some creature comforts. 'Urban use + track use': drive it to the track (eventually with extra tires on board), wring it out on track and get back home with it. The total versatile package makes the M2 CS a rare bird among the flock of high performance cars. Quintessential F87 with the final engineering touches to the S55 engine.

And so it appears that the length of M2C + M2 CS and 718 GT4 are virtually identical (difference of only 5mm/0.5cm or 0.2in), unlike the wheelbase (difference of 20.9cm or 8.23in).

Length and wheelbase:
  • 981 GT4 = 4438mm (174.72in) | wheelbase: 2474mm (97.40in)

  • M2 CS = 4461mm (175.63in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • original M2 = 4468mm (175.91in) | wheelbase: 2693mm (106.02in)
  • E46 M3 = 4492mm (176.85in) | wheelbase: 2731mm (107.52in)
