Deposits thoughout the PNW BMW Dealerships

Just curious, how much is each dealer taking for deposit? I asked BMW Seattle who take $5k and Kuni takes $1k for about the same wait, at MSRP.
what about other dealers in the PNW?

Thanks for this. I checked my local dealer (BMW of Tri Cities) and they said they won't have any more M2 allocations this year and that they aren't taking orders for any for next year. Therefore, I need to get on the Kuni list sounds like. (Just sent them a message asking about the process)

Keep in mind that if you get an allocation, you will end up paying the same amount. It just depends on whether you want to pay more up front vs. later. I put deposits down @ 2 dealerships and just got the cash back from the one I didn't end up buying from. Most dealerships will take card also, so I earned some miles while I was waiting for an allocation by simply paying the card off, so that may be an added bonus of a deposit

So you don't lose anything to put the deposit down if you end up backing out? I'm about 80% ready to buy the M2 (when I get back to the USA) but I would like to sit and drive one to really be sure.

I might end up doing what you did and putting 2 deposits down.

Nope, you can back out at anytime. Confirm this with dealership also, and via email to have a record.

Salem told me $1k but not until I placed an order. That was almost a year ago though. They get 1 allocation a quarter and I talked with my CA a few weeks ago and he said there were still a few people ahead of me. I didn't think about getting on multiple lists until I started reading about people taking that strategy on the forums later in year. I figured at that point I was early enough at Salem but I will be regretting that decision if I don't get a car this year.

$5000 for me at the same outfit. With an insistence that $5 grand was being paid by everybody, too.

Not all that bummed that I didn't end up buying from that shop.

Paid $1 grand for a deposit at Spokane BMW.

Of course, didn't get my car from either. Had to go 2600+ miles away for that. Got full refunds from both, so in the end ok.

Yeah, I got in a few months before you, Bruce. It was the early, dark days. A complete circus at Seattle BMW. Some folks didn't even know a list existed. My SA knew about the list but didn't not know what they were charging. "I dunno, how's $1000 sound?" is what he said. "Sounds good to me, here's my check..."

It's likely I was one of the last ones through the door with a $1k deposit.

Kuni in Beaverton took my order with $1K deposit. They did say it's about a 1 year wait which is fine for me since I work in Kuwait until September and then we have winter so if I get it in March 2018, perfect for the driving season.

Ordered the LBB, Exec pkg, DCT.

I just received an allocation from Kuni, should deliver in August. If anyone is in a hurry to get one (which im not since I wont be home until July), check Portland BMW. Their deposit is $5k I think and they at one point even had 2 in stock (probably just people that didn't follow thru with their order).

For what it's worth, I ordered through Tri-Cities BMW in April 2016 for MSRP and NO deposit. Never put a penny down until I took delivery in December 2016. They were a great dealer to work with and still treat me great. So far I have only M2 in Tri-Cities (LBB 6MT).

Pre M2 I bought a M235 from Tri-Cities Bmw. Great to work with - super laid back!

Here is my experience. In July, I was #8 Kuni's waitlist and I now have a week 46 build.

After the 3 allocations given in September, my position went to #4 because someone dropped out. A week later, another person dropped out and their allocation became available. The people in #1 and #2 slots passed because they wanted spring time ED. The person in the #3 position passed and so I got the build.

It was a strange week since everything changed so quickly, but I am happy to finally get my car.
