Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Modifications - Stock, 1200mi service completed M2 vs M2 Competition Stock M4 (non-ZCP) vs M2 Competition As seen the M2C peaks at 397whp/443ft-lb tq, about ~20whp shy of M4 numbers, likely through detuning. We'll see what numbers we can reach once tuned as well as compare other M2 Competitions as they come through the doors. Enjoy!

Interesting results. Different to what we found in the European cars?

397whp with 10% drivetrain loss would approximately correspond to 440HP at the crank (and 10% drivetrain loss is a conservative number). |

Can someone dumb it down for me please?
- is this better or worse than what we expected or about the same? - what exactly does it mean when it's been detuned? Like does that mean we can easily get m3/m4 numbers with a tune or something? Thanks! |

Yes, 10% drivetrain loss is very conservative for a front engine car. Either way, very impressive numbers. I've said it before this engine is a peach and runs well.

Correct, it shares the same engine with exact same parts so you can easily match or exceed M3/M4 numbers. In fact, there is a member making near 600whp with a E85 tune on his M2C. |

2. The M2C's engine has been slightly detuned by BMW as not to weigh on M3/4 sales. And, of course like he said ^

Strange the M2 N55 was so high at the wheel. Isn't it usually like 330-335 on 91 octane?

Results usually vary depending on the temp, correction factor etc but given that these two cars were on the same dyno and the same correction factor is used for both of them (even though OG M2's dyno is probably not from the same day), I think it's still a fair comparison. 44whp/45wtq difference between OG M2 and M2C is less than what I expected though.

notice @2.5k the N55 has 75more FT LB than the S55 400ish vs 325. After 3k its all S55. explains less low end snap for the M2C.carl

3.3% bhp to whp variance for N55 M2 vs 2% bhp to whp variance for S55 M2... so the S55 M2 is actually more underrated than N55.

Don't focus too much on the peak numbers though. Look at the area under curve after 2700RPM. It's quite impressive IMO. For instance, around 6600RPM M2C is making nearly 60whp more than OG M2.
