If the sound is really great, I will most likely go for it regardless of the unreasonably high price for it.
I'm looking into this as well as I will have the same issue wi the regulations and emissions, meaning: I will have to meet them.

MPE might be the safest option, however, it's hard to find data/reviews/videos comparing it to its competitors

Another person mentioned the Dinan w x-pipe earlier. This keeps the secondary cats (US) or OPF (EU) so no coding needed.

EC approval? Hell no as you have to order from US.

I have just got a cracking deal from X-PH through this forum and will give it a go on my EU/OPF car.

I can order the MPE through my BMW dealer. Although they say they can’t install it but they can order it for me.

Wait what? A BMW dealer won't install a BMW M Performance part? I'm shocked

I would try to hear the Remus in person.

They are using helmholtz resonators to target specific frequencies and cancel them out. I don't know if they are targeting high frequency rasp, low frequency drone, or both.

That is the point. If OP wants to keep the OPF, than Remus Race is the winner.

With my friend we custom made an axle-back exhaust with two Helmholtz resonator (the same design as Remus Race, but for less money :-)).
We kept OPFs and factory resonators in place as well and integrated the factory exhaust valves as well.
Sounds very-very good and no CELL.

A little bit drone during the cold start up (but only within the first 3 or 4 seconds...)

Akra is an overpriced exhaust axle-back system for M2C with OPF. Not worth it and does not sound significantly better than factory exhaust for that money. On my recent F13 M6 i had Akra, that was a good system with good sound...

Because MPE is not meant to be installed on M2C with OPF.
MPE can be installed only on the car without those filters

The linkpipe is really what makes it sound good. I have the linkpipe with the slip on and it's the perfect amount of sound personally. Too bad it's not allowed in Europe...

Love this. I plan on the full Akrapovic kit & caboodle DP -> Link Pipe -> Slip for max

Valved exhaust will never sound good.. period
The muffler is there to make it quiet vs tuning the sound and the valves just open up to straight pipe.
You're using about $100 worth of pipe on your $5,000 exhaust. Talk about scam of the century! lol

I have the full akra, mid pipes and rear section. It drones at 2950 rpms mostly because it’s a hatchback, but man above that at track speeds the pitch is perfect. Fitment is always perfect with akra and it never hits the underbody. I honestly think the akra sounds more refined (in the cabin) in the f80 compared to my m2c but it’s oranges vs apple when it comes to the platform.

Thanks goodness that's one thing we can install in UK... well, resonator delete at least - stops at OPF.

Akrapovic Slip On

I have the slip on with my M2C (S55) and have been considering using the midpipe as well, but I keep hearing I will have to "code" out a CEL to use it - has that been any one else's experience?

Not sure what effect the coding would have on yearly inspections around here...

Any comments are appreciated and welcomed.

I had the Akra Evo (which includes midpipe) system on my F80. Live in Houston. Never had any issues with inspection or CEL. Also, checked with dealer and they said all was good as far as warranty. Planning to get the same setup on my M2C.

Have you considered Active Autowerke Full Signature exhaust? I personally love mine.

Has anyone without OPF tried the Akrapovic Slip-On and had a similar experience?

No CEL with the linkpipe, that's only if you add the downpipe.

The Akra slip-on, which I heard in person, was on a car without OPF.

Have a look at a Lightweight Performance OPF-back exhaust system. It is the legally loudest system available here in Germany, even louder than the Akra Slip-On, because the LW system has a mid resonator delete.
But in terms of bmw warranty: every modification on the exhaust system will deny warranty claims.

But how can anyone deny warranty claim if it is just an rear muffler change to aftermarket? All the OEM cats, OPFs and the central resonator are in place.

It is an official statement by munich which has been sent to all dealers. Every modification on the complete exhaust system will be flagged in their system and MAY result in the denial of an exhaust related fault (such as turbo and so on...). Reason was the potentially missing back pressure of the exhaust and therefore a faulty operating OPF, for example.
