Interesting... how limited run are these going to be? I'm guessing they will be like the 1M.

I'm going to be looking for a new car come August next year, wonder if these are still going to be around for order?

No one really knows, but the expectation is that it will not be as limited as the 1.

For me, the M2 is the real modern M3, when you look at the past.
Two years ago I thought about buying a M235i because I couldn't imagine that BMW will build a new mordern car that fits more for me. But I had the hope and saved my money. Now I can say it was the best decision I made and I will have tons of joy with the M2 in 2016 ... and there is no alternative on the market in europe (and I think also in the US), when you want a new, stock agressive compact sportcoupe with rwd, a manual gearbox, 6 cyl. and +300hp. Thats what I wanted and BMW delivers.
Same thoughts here.

Comparison of figures about size and weight:

Yes. There were a handful of 1M made in custom colors and it's my understanding that ZERO were US cars.

I also haven't seen any individual with one of those custom colors pop up on a forum either (read: more than likely they aren't an average Bmw owner ). By that I mean, a wealthy sheik in Dubai might get this done, or perhaps Alex Rodriguez, but not just " Joe wealthy customer " that thinks he can get what he wants by offering to write a Bigger Check.

I can definitely tell you that BMW has a tiering system when it comes to special requests. This is per my own phone conversation with BMW M Brand manager Matt Russell. When I was looking for a 1M.. he told me directly that he could not steer a car towards anywhere during 1M production unless it was a Tier X level.... And any request from a normal buyer would be Tier One. I am paraphrasing.. but a Tier 2-3 level request would be from someone famous for example.. and he advised inventory was so tight that he couldn't even do it for " average famous guy".

My Best recommendation is to look at what vehicles come out of the factory in Leipzig and see if those vehicles are available for individual program.

I ain't hatin tho.. Go ahead and put in your special request and a 15k deposit.... if it works for you then Awesome!
Just don't be surprised when both are returned.
No argument here. LBB or AW is just fine with me. I would never spend that kind of money anyway just for paint.... Unless I was a wealthy sheik, lol

YES! More Alcantara the better!

I've had it in many cars and IMO it looks great, performs when driving and holds up great over time.

In my personal opinion this is going to be one of those cars that looks meh in photos but amazing in person..

I wish they were going to come out with full levels of production but I don't see general availability until 2018..

Forget the color. Look at the flares on the M3

Unfortunately MG on black interior is super boring. I would have loved MG on red interior, too bad that's not an option

As much as I don't like silver, Donnington Grey with exposed CF MP bits and pieces would have been killer on the M2.

Yes exactly that little part there i can imagine that being a nightmare to clean where you will have to use like those things you have for cleaning your ears to get rid of dirt in that area Or imagine a lose stone hitting that area and getting stuck and you have to pull it out without ruining more of the color and clear coat. Other then that the M2 is shaping up to be a real monster great looks, Pretty aggressive and again its a 2 series so even better.

I want it. I may trade in my E92 for one. I think it will be a special car.

My local dealer is Palm Springs, and I want to tryout the new track BMW owns in
Thermal, CA.

To be honest, that is nothing really new. Look at the M3/M4 for that.

Yeah ofc but i would love the M2 to be different in that aspect it doesn't have to look like M3/M4 that has that little "room" there at the headlights. The 2 series lights are unique and so should the body shape be.

For example this is the original picture with the "Room"

And this picture half as Photoshop by me without that little "room"

And also close up. Now obviously BMW would done a better job then me in Photoshop but this is just my idea on what i would love the headlight to be on the 2 series.

With the "Room"

Without the "Room"

Frankly speaking, I like the design of that 'headlight pocket'.
