It's a hybrid knob with stainless core and round black delrin outer. It feels fabulous and won't get too hot or cold like a bare metal one.

Pic is with the spare white stitched gaiter I had, I'll put the orange one on it now I know it works..
Where did you get the white gaiter? I tried to take mine off, but was afraid of breaking it so I am thinking of just getting a new one.

Also is this shift knob supposed to be plugged into something?

The white gaiter came attached to the M240i M performance shift knob I bought.

You just have to "snap" it off the base of the shift knob. I used a fine blade inbetween to just open it up a little then it broke away clean.

The white nylon ring you can see inside your shift boot stays attached to the boot but breaks aways from the base of the shifter.

I did the same to break the orange gaiter off the OE knob then attach to the Raceseng stalk.

The gaiter you have their looks like an illuminated version? What is that from? There is no supply there on an M2C, but i' sure it would be easy to pick up one from the buttons etc around the shift console.

So I recently test drove an M2C manual and the manual wasn't the greatest thing about the car. This sounds like the fix.

2 questions:
approximately how much does this mod run including installation?
are there any warranty implications?

cheers

I would try the raceseng shifter first as its a pretty cheap DIY.

The SSK is a more expensive plus 2 to 3 hours shop time to fit.

Warranty issuse? On the shifter and parts of course. Maybe if your gearbox broke they would reject it. But that's pretty unlikely. But it won't affect warranty on anything else.

I too don't feel much issue with the clutch. I'll be installing the ssk once the kit is finished next week.

Autosolutions (Ron) have been building the best stuff for our M cars for such a long time

Whatever they do it is perfect. No reason to consider anyone else.

Getting ready to order this kit from Ronald but debating which bushing "grade" to order.

From Ronald:
"Currently we have 3 grades of bushings:
a) 95a most responsive , noisiest on par with Delrin or teflon noise wise but longer lasting and better control. Suitable for track
b) 80a quieter than delrin or teflon and equally effective
c) 80a+ closest to OEM noise wise almost as responsive as 80a performance wise"

I have a call in to Ronald, but wanted to ask opinion of those that have the kit for the M2C. Which bushing did you order, and how is the noise level compared to OEM? Is the noise related to "running vibration" or to the "click clack" of the lever as you move it forward/backward and side-to-side? Thanks!

I have the latest bushing he has made in my 25% reduction stock height SSK kit. There is ZERO NOISE, other than a soft click as it goes thru the gates. I can't stop driving my car with this SSK. Its awesome.

I have his New Urethane Bronze bushings BTW

Do you recall whether your kit included the 95a, 80a or 80a+ bushing? I understand the "newest" 80a+ bushing became available in April of this year.

Just had the AutoSolutions shift kit and Ultimate Clutch Pedal installed. Very happy with the results. Also did the latest urethane bronze bushings—no excess noise or vibration. Video review for those who have 15 minutes to kill:

Yes, I had my dealer install all this:

Rear, side and bumper reflectors and grills
AA Midpipe
Painted my muffler Blk
AK Motion Vent Gauge
RKP rear spoiler
Lightweight front Splitter
AS SSK & Raceseng Shift Knob
UCP clutch Pedal
BMS Dry Air filters
RPI Ram air scoops

Even if I didn't work at the dealership they still would have installed the parts.

I ordered mine April 19. The option from Ron was only "bushings" or "no bushings".

No choice of bushing.

I've got the poly (blue/purple) bushes with bronze sleeves. Very stiff.

I had an unpleasant whirring gear noise problem but this went when i fitted the Raceseng shift knob.
