I think the Step 5 pictures are showing via the green tape where to trim and how much. The big photo is the end result so as long as you match that you should be fine. I think once you get the piece and lay it over your plastic one it should make sense. Unbolt it, buy a new plastic under-tray, reinstall. Shouldn't be very difficult. |

I just discovered IND mounting instructions and I'm afraid of the work to be done (I thought the oil coller guard was quite "plug and play").
IMO the assembly will require a car lift. Can IND answer this question ? |

Ramps or jack stands to give you some room underneath in front is sufficient.

This is why I asked the question, in case somehow who actually saw a car with and without it, could comment (I guess the best would be IND guys but they don't see to want to) I am asking about the "return to stock" in order to cover the various cases where it may have to happen: car crash (if it is bent, BMW will only propose to set the car back to stock... as long as it is not much complicated than how "the manual" states), issues while fixing something on the car etc. |

No impact on regular maintenance once installed. All the hardware comes in metric sizing as well Quote:

I installed it last night. Everything went fine with 2 exceptions:
1) Trimming the under panel to the correct size opening was easy BUT the fine tune trimming to get the two front plastic holes to line up with the two front metal holes took WAY longer than I had expected. I think the instructions don't do a great job explaining exactly where to trim. The bottom trimming above the M2 logo was easy along with the middle section and top. It's the sides and top corners that were tricky to allow the plastic holes to line up perfectly with the metal holes where you have to pay attention. I did it by small cuts and trial and error at that stage. I used aluminum shears as I was in a hurry - maybe a dremel or whiz wheel would have been a better idea.. 2) The provided replacement U nuts and bolts for the very front 2 mounting points... When you tighten those down the thickness of the nut between the bumper plastic and the metal splash guard causes a little gap. So instead of the bumper plastic laying perfectly flat against the metal it's effectively shimmed down a bit. Not a big deal but hurts my ocd a bit. I'll still take that over a hole in my oil cooler though. I'd like to see an example from IND how they had the U-nuts and where they put them. I only used them for the very front 4 holes and the front two aren't happy how they sit. The little tool they included was nifty and worked fine for squashing the nut cert. As for going back to stock - The only modification (other than hacking up a plastic under tray which you can buy a new one) is drilling out a rivet holding in the stock parking blocks. Once you nut cert that area and bolt the replacement parking blocks in - there is no difference from stock anymore. You just have the ability to unbolt your parking blocks where as before you couldn't.. Stock = riveted in, now = bolted in. Last edited by Proctor750; 02-13-2019 at 09:54 AM.. |

Guys, I am still planning to look into the groupbuy for you.
The group has become smaller so far. I will drop you an update end of next week. I am flat out the coming five days, so I will not have any time to deal with it. MR |

Guys, these three people are left...
CJ41BIG CSL335i quenotte At this moment it might be smarter if one of you three takes over for the sake of dealing with one location at your end where this product goes to I am happy to help, but I think it is smarter if one of you guys reaches it and ships it onwards. MR |

I don’t have my car yet, so forgive this question if it’s obvious. Does airflow for the oil cooler start in the lower section of the front fascia, and then air exits from the open rear portion of this metal guard piece? Do we have assurances that this piece won’t restrict airflow across the cooler, causing increased oil temps?
