Seeking Key Conversion Help Locally
I'm interested in converting my 2019 M2C key to a 2017 X5 key. I have found threads and videos on how to do it, but I definitely do not have the skills to perform the procedure.
Is there anyone in the Northern Virginia area who has successfully done this and would be willing to do it for me? If so, then please let me know your availability and cost. (I already have a spare X5 key.) Thanks! |

I was gonna post some more info up about this once I finish my conversion up.
The reflow isn't that difficult, the transmitter chip has a bit of surface tension due to the big thermal pad underneath it but the micro is super easy. Use flux to make it easier. Be careful of the buttons as they melt easy. Putting it on is easy, taking it off is harder. |

I sent mine to china to have it done. Seems sketch at first but there's a trusted member on the forum who takes care of it and I've had mine for years without a problem. Even had a dealership perform a free battery swap without comment or issue.

Do they also convert the actual key, or just the remote?
