Happy with M2C?
I know this is an M2 forum so opinions might be biased but...are you guys happy with your M2 Comps?
Would you buy again, or would you go used 911 or Cayman next time? Is the weight an issue you notice a lot? Especially interested in hearing from those who came from OG. thanks |

I am very happy with my M2C, thrilled actually, as I think its the perfect performance daily driver and an incredible value. Yes, my next car will be a P car, but I'll keep the M2C for a long time too. I need to go over to the other side and see what's doin.

Super happy. It's a fun, low key car. Even base caymans can sometimes draw too much attention

Very happy coming from a C7 Corvette, which I miss a few things about but overall think the M2C is better day-to-day. I do many autocross events and it feels every bit as capable as the C7 in that regard - love how truly dual purpose the M2C is. No regrets buying one!

Happy in the M2C here.
First test drive reminded me of the older BMWs in feel. It instantly felt familiar, as if I had been driving that car for years, and a bond was created. |

OP, I'm guessing that you're asking this question, because you currently drive an OG M2, and you're weighing your options with regard to "what next?" Some background before coming to your question: Researchers who do work in the field of "subjective well-being" (high-falutin' name for "happiness") have demonstrated over and over again that variety really is the spice of life. And it's because our brains are relatively low-fidelity. There is simply too much sensory information for our brains to effectively process, so as a result, our brains take shortcuts. Anything remotely familiar, our brains will simply categorize as "familiar stuff" and effectively ignore it. That's why, for example, you can't remember a single detail from any of your regular workdays over the course of the past 5 years - every one of those days was familiar - but you can still vividly recall the smell of the rock cod on that open charcoal grill, while you sipped a margarita, sitting in a beach chair right on the water, during that one week vacation in Cancun from 15 years ago. Given that insight, the most effective way to create lasting memories is to vary your experiences. If you told me that you had a Cayman, and that you wanted to maximize your utility, I would recommend that you get an M2C. If you told me that you had an M2, I would recommend that you now get a Cayman. Good luck with your decision, OP! |

However, my personal situation has since changed, allowing me to splurge on more cars. So, I switched to a Cayman T, which is my dedicated fun car, and am currently in the market for a 4-door grand tourer type car for kid hauling duties. If you aren't constrained by the need for 4 seats, I would definitely recommend test driving the Cayman. It's got all the performance goodies you'd want, plus its weight is on the right side of 3,000 lbs. The base Cayman and the Cayman T are not as fast as the M2C, but quite honestly, on public roads, it's hard to exploit that kind of speed / acceleration anyway without losing your license. Finally, I would say that the Cayman's 6MT is vastly superior to the M2C's. I had originally intended to get a 6MT M2C (manual only till the the day I die, was my motto), but after test driving decided on the DCT instead. Meanwhile, the 6MT in the Cayman was so good, it was a no-brainer to get it. Hope that helps! |

I’m really happy with the M2C, right now the only car that I think can pull me away is a Cayman GTS or GT4 with the 4.0. Thankfully (or unfortunately) those are out of my price range... for now.

The M2 is incredibly fun. But if I had the budget I would go 4.0 GTS or GT4. 911 would be a no brainer obviously, even though I am into trackdays and not every 911 would be a great choice.

I test drove one and was surprised by how visceral it wasn't. However, having read multiple times on here that it is almost boring until hooned or tracked really helped me put it in perspective. I got the car because I needed four seats (have a small dog I will put in the back seat for rides) and there was no car in the class that could appropriately double as a DD and be a track car. (911 would have fit the bill but I wanted 992 and wasn't willing to pay for that access plus upcoming GT3 for my allocation in '22.

Can I ask you what made the Cayman manual superior? I am very inexperienced with manuals so I actually want the rev matching, hill assist, and electronic nannies. Basically want a manual so I have more engagement than DCT but I want an easy manual. It will be my second car so I dont have to commute in it, but LA is still LA even on a Saturday or Sunday. |

Personally, i kind of like the shift feel in the M2 when driving around normally, but on a twisty road or a race track, I would prefer a bit more precision and feel. I feel like the M2 shifting experience is about a 6/10, better than average, but not great. |
