Best place for Canadians to buy parts?

New to the BMW community... I recently bought a 2017 M2 and wanted to get a few things for it... (to start: front splitter, rear spoiler, side skirt/winglets).

I have no clue where the best place to get parts is though. Most of the online stores I find are in the US or UK. Wondering if there are any Canadian options to avoid duties? Also unsure who is reliable, etc.

I've also been told that a lot of the OEM versions of the above parts don't fit the 2017 M2 because they were built for the 2018+ Competition model and the body / mounting points are slightly different?

Thanks in advance, fellow Canadians!

If you're looking for performance/aftermarket parts, reach out to Alpha Motorsports in the GTA. His prices are usually better than purchasing directly from US.

For OEM parts, unfortunately your dealer will be your best bet and they'll usually give you 15% off if you tell them you're part of a local BMW club.

Prior to the pandemic, you could get a US shipping address, have all your parts shipped to the location (near the border) and drive down to pick them up yourself.

Thank you both for the suggestions. These look mostly like performance part shops. Any thoughts on where to get cosmetic mods for the OG M2? (ex. carbon splitter, spoiler, winglets, etc.)

I used to do the run to Niagara Falls, NY too, in order to pick up stuff from US suppliers. An option now is to use a forwarding service, for example https://opas.com/. I haven't used that one, but I did have some stuff forwarded from the UK using https://www.forward2me.com and it worked fine.

For anything M-Performance, as noted above, you can get 15% off at any dealership if you are a BMW club member. I just ordered a M2 CS rear spoiler and M2 CS Racing front splitter for my M2C from BMW Gallery.

I'm always on the lookout as well for other performance related shops in Canada so I'll keep watching this thread.

I got M2C carbon mirror cap replicas and a CS spoiler from Aliexpress.

Mirror caps were a 9.5 fit and finish.

CS spoiler fitment is a 9 but I did notice that the weave isn't uniform so would give it a 7 on finish. Only noticeable if you're looking towards the back of the car. I did have to remove the cheap pre-installed double-sided tape and apply the real 3M stuff.

Ordering from the usa is not that bad, just make sure no ground shipping is used, ground shipping add a lot of brokerage fees, and more expensive shipping options include all fees including brokerage, so you'll just pay the taxes on declared value

These sites should be good for maintenance items

Germanparts.ca
Germanoem.ca -it might be .come

I've used them primarily for my vw, but they do have options for BMW. Haven't looked for parts for the 2 yet, as it's under bmws maintenance program now

Thanks. Anyone have experience with AutoID? UK Based online retailer. They seem to be active on here too.

It seems to be the one place that sells a nice front lip and side winglets for the OG M2
(at semi-reasonable prices) but shipping and taxes rack the price up significantly...

Unfortunately, the OEM front lip is only for 2018+ Competition or CS and I have a '17 OG M2.

https://autoid.co/products/tre-pre-p...-2015-2018-f87

This winglets look similar to the OEM ones but at less than half the price so this actually seems decent.

Could you share the link to the M style mirror covers for OG M2 you bought? Do they offer non CF painted body colour?

I got the reflector delete from AutoID.
Super fast shipping - would recommend.

Also bought the midpipe from forum sponsor X-ph.com
Reasonable shipping and always great communication.

It's a bit too much for my taste. PM me if you're interested

I frequently order from Aliexpress, not just for auto accessories, but also for odd household items and clothing. Delivery can be super fast or super slow (ie. up to 8-10 week), or 10% of the time, the item never arrives. However, Aliexpress has a very good policy of refunding your purchase if you don't receive your item. But unlike Amazon, it's difficult to return the item.

As for auto accessories, I've ordered CF license plates/antenna cover/shift cover/etc. They've all been very good knock-off's and the price is fraction of what you would pay from Amazon or other online merchants.

My advice is whatever you can find online, check on Aliexpress for comparable item and make your decision from there.

A big item on the mk7 golf that people upgrade to, is the power folding mirrors. Lots of people get them from aliexpress, and they are vw branded. Many believe its the Chinese market items, or the factory that makes them to begin with.

As noted above though, it's a buyer beware situation.
