New car delivery checklist to dealer
My 2021 Comp is going to be delivered to the dealership this week. I have read a few stories of cars not having their bumpstops removed or low coolant levels triggering a bunch of warning lights a few hundred miles post delivery (a European car).
Are there any other things that the dealer might slack on in prep for my delivery? Thanks rob |

Not really, any competent dealer should be able to prep an M2. I think best to walk around and inspect the car carefully inside and out to check for scratches etc. Also, take it for a quick drive. All this before you sign the paperwork.

Tell them not to drill the bumper
Tell them not to polish the car with their dirty pads and rags. In fact take it with the paint protection in tact if you can. Get the odometer reading when delivered. Techs love to joy ride in a new M2. If you think that your dealer's employees would never do that, think again. |

Besides AlpsRide's comment to not drill the front bumper for the license plate, make sure the dealer isn't one of those that attaches a sticker with their name to the paint. I also brought my own M2 license plate frame to have them put on in the rear rather than their own when transferring plates. Luckily PA doesn't use a front plate.

idk how any dealership would let you drive the car before the paperwork is signed.

My dealer happens to have their own detailing bays and hand wash my car each service. As for joy riding my M2 and M2C were delivered with 11 and 9 miles; respectively. |

Hand washing a car is of limited benefit if the rags have just been used on another car.
Once I took my previous car in for a routine service. When I picked it up I noticed that the corners of the tires were bright black with grind marks which I know come from very hard cornering. They for sure were not like that when I dropped the car off. Another time in my new car, I dropped it off for service with the gas gauge above empty, the warning light was not on. When I picked the car up there was ZERO gas in the tank....I mean like I had to stop at the very next station I could find. They were joy riding without a doubt. It was in for an oil change.
